As a result of the most recent eye camp in Shambu, Ethiopia, 14 year-old Bontu, who was previously legally blind, now has perfect vision in both eyes and can return to 4th grade and playing with her siblings and friends.
Dear Gifting the Gift of Sight Contributor,
Below is the link to an inspirational account detailing some of the success stories performed at the most recent Eye Camp in Shambu, Ethopia. Within the article you will find touching stories of the lives you’ve impacted with your donations. Over the course of only 6 days, Dr. Samuel Bora performed 244 cataract operations and his 13 person ophthalmology team treated an additional 1,300 patients. An astounding 56% of the patients operated on would have been considered legally blind by US standards. Only 8 of these 123 left the clinic still belonging to this category, nevertheless showing marked improvement (some patients have very advanced glaucoma or other conditions in addition to blinding cataracts). As you will see, this eye camp improved not only the lives of the patients, but those of their “guides” as well. Many “guide children” will now be able to return to school and enjoy their childhood as a result of these procedures. Please click the link below to read more about how your generous donation has impacted the lives of so many!
Thank you for your continued support.
