Season's Greetings To All,
As we move from the Thanksgiving Holiday into December we remain thankful for all that has come our way and for the opportunities we have to reach out and help others. We learn and benefit so much from these interactions.
The end of the year Holiday Season is filled with many festivities, celebrations, sharing, gifting, friends, family and yes, often times, excess. Good times that many of us remember fondly as we age. But please keep in mind, that for some, the Holiday Season is a struggle - rife with feelings of despair or cold or hunger. Strive to be kind, strive to be considerate.
However you celebrate please be safe and happy, and when you can, carve out a brief moment to think of those less fortunate than ourselves and if your means allow, consider extending a charitable hand toward others.
No matter how you say it - Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Chanukkah, Season's Greetings, Happy New Year - We Are Wishing You All the Best during this month and always,
Jordan, Molly, Kelsey, Mary, Daina, Jonathan, Aviva and Brian from Cascadia Disability Law

Meet Kelsey
Kelsey is in her third year with Cascadia Disability Law - my oh my how time flies! As an experienced Legal Assistant, Kelsey primarily works with clients at the hearing level of the process - but she is knowledgeable about nearly every facet of Social Security and Veterans disability benefits. Here's more about Kelsey, in her own words....
I moved from Eugene, Oregon to the Portland Metro area in 2010, after working at the Eugene ODAR (the hearings unit for Social Security) as a temporary student employee for a year and a half while I was attending Lane Community College. I spent three months working at the Portland ODAR as a temporary student employee while attending Portland Community College where I studied Criminal Justice. I chose to switch programs when I transferred to Heald College, and I finally graduated from Heald College in 2013 with an AA in Paralegal Studies.
Because I am curious, my favorite thing about working at the hearing level is reading through medical records. I always have enjoyed helping people and being in a position that gives me this opportunity on a daily basis makes coming to work each day enjoyable (most of the time).
While assisting people that are in need of Social Security benefits, it can become quite frustrating when medical facilities delay sending us records or magically “lose” our requests. When this happens, it is not uncommon to ask our clients for assistance in updating their records. Most medical facilities are a lot more willing to work with their patients, as opposed to a big bad law firm (now what could they possibly be afraid of?? - ed.)
