Hello everyone,

With only a few days left until Christmas, this gives me the perfect opportunity to connect with you.  We’ve had a happy and busy year at CVA SkillShare, and have been overwhelmed at how philanthropic our SkillShare partners have been. You have given up your time, and sometimes offices, to upskill and future proof many local voluntary and community groups.

I recently met Rachel Harrington, Director at Coutts Institute who gave a fantastic speech about philanthropy.

Philanthropy is the practice of giving money and or time to help make life better for other people, this simple definition says it all, yet the biggest challenge for the voluntary sector is how we tap into this generous practice.

With philanthropic giving on the rise, the onus is now on the voluntary sector in knowing how to respond to meet the needs of the donor.

Here at CVA, we are well placed to connect charities with local philanthropists and by developing meaningful relationships with local businesses we are becoming more efficient and effective at meeting the demands of the organisations who need us most.

If philanthropy is important to your business or charity, we would love to hear from you!

Happy Christmas!

Would you like your skills & experience to make a positive difference in the communities that matter to you?

Many businesses have great aspirations for their local communities and a passion for them to succeed, if you feel the same, the opportunities are huge!

Becoming a trustee of a charity is a great way to develop a deeper understanding of local issues, and research shows that an individual’s well-being can improve when they are more engaged in their community.
