It's the "most wonderful time of the year," right? Holidays are supposed to be about rest, relaxation and fun, right? Then why do we put ourselves under so much pressure to create the perfect holiday -- the exquisitely decorated house and tree, a gorgeous holiday feast, meaningful presents for all, doing something charitable and helping others, mailing everyone a card in time (nevermind creating the perfect family photo), and those impossible, unrealistic resolutions.
This year, I'm vowing to embrace the dysfunctional "Griswold Christmas" and will force myself to not "check every bulb." And, if there happens to be a squirrel in my Christmas tree, then so be it. Guess it's time to learn how to enjoy the holidays like we once did as children -- less school, more play, and way more fun!
