Collage as Grid: 200 Columbine Commission

It's been a year of exciting and challenging commissioned projects. Above is the most recent installation, a reproduction of an original collage, "Western." I produced the collage with the eventual design in mind… attempting to have each piece of the grid exist as an interesting graphic image in its own right. A high resolution scan of the collage was enlarged and then printed onto 32 wood panels, each one foot square. It's now in the lobby of 200 Columbine, a new building in Denver's Cherry Creek North Area.

Join me for a studio-warming celebration

I'm very excited to announce that I recently rented studio space in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe. The studio is on the second floor, located just above Mmm Coffee, with a view to the courtyard. It's a bright and inspiring spot and while it's still fairly pristine, I thought it'd be fun to have a party. Please stop by for a visit this Saturday from 12-5pm! Since it's that time of the year, I'll have some collages specially priced for gift-giving too.

The view from here...

Sometimes it's the charming, little things in life that, when collected, have great impact. Perhaps because of my affinity for accumulated scraps of paper :) I was fascinated recently by a New Yorker article about artist Harry Everett Smith, who collected paper airplanes found on the streets of New York... sculptural ephemera!

And speaking of paper in motion, it's been a great year in terms of my art career — thanks to the many people who have supported and encouraged me along the way. "
Paper Trails," at Spark Gallery this fall (above) was a definite highlight. I look forward to many artful adventures in the new year.

Here's to a wonder-filled holiday season!

All the best to you and yours,

Janice
