December Newsletter

Season's Greetings! With winter and the holiday season now upon us, we wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday. As we look to the new year, it is a good time to reflect on 2015.

We are pleased to report that the library sponsored 175 programs and special events last year -- a 25% increase. This has led to a 46% increase in attendance (2,669 in total) to these programs. There were also big increases in the summer reading program with 388 participants, a 63% increase from 2014, and 16,935 total minutes of reading accomplished!

In the past year over 7,000 patrons visited the library and borrowed over over 9,698 books, DVDs, audio books, e-books and magazines. This shows a 12% increase in use of library items. There was a 24% increase in the use of e-books and audio books from Listen Up Vermont.*

New art exhibit on view through Feb. 13th

The library is pleased to present an exhibit of fiber arts by the SoRo Fiber Crafters. This group show features quilts, hooked rugs, crewel embroidery, knitted items and more. Artists displaying their work are part of an informal fiber arts group that meets in the library every third Tuesday of the month from 6-8pm. A reception for the artists was held December 13th.

Lego Club

Lego Club is a monthly gathering at the library for Lego enthusiasts! With the help of Theresa Manning and Kerri Rogers and a massive amount of Legos (donated to the library) amazing Lego creations are built. This year, several Lego Club participants displayed their pieces at the Tunbridge World's Fair and won prizes. The next Lego Club will meet January 16th, 1:00-2:00pm with the theme of "Group Maze." All are welcome! This program is co-sponsored by the Royalton Recreation Commission along with Royalton Memorial Library.

Winter Book Club

The winter Book Club will begin with reading A Slant of Light by Vermont author Jeffrey Lent. Copies of the book will be available from the library in late January. The group will meet to discuss the book February 22nd. All are welcome!

Upcoming titles include Little Bee by Chris Cleave and Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.
