MANCHESTER PARK STORMWATER SITE VISIT  

To prevent degradation of Puget Sound waters surrounding Pomeroy Park at Manchester Beach in Kitsap County, the UW Green Futures Lab, supported in part by a Sustainable Path grant, is collaborating with Kitsap County Public Works to monitor the performance of a multi-­‐functional stormwater treatment park. Around 100 acres of urban runoff in downtown Manchester will be treated with a variety of methods.

Impact Circle 5 Selects Four Grantees

 
The seven members' recommendations, below, were approved by the board at the November meeting. This is final grant cycle of 2015.

Futurewise: Climate Justice and Resilient Voices Project
  • The Climate Justice and Resilient Voices Project will bring the voice of youth into Seattle’s Comprehensive Planning process so that climate equity will be strengthened as the City plans for the next 20 years. Read more here.
Nature Consortium: Urban Reforestation Project
  • Nature Consortium has been successfully restoring the West Duwamish Greenbelt since 2003, with the long term goal of helping the area transition towards a more balanced, mixed-­‐age deciduous and coniferous forest. Read more here.  
NW Sustainable Energy for Economic Development (NW SEED): Solarize Woodinville
  • Through Solarize Woodinville, Northwest SEED will partner with the community and offer a limited time group purchase opportunity for homeowners and small businesses. Read more here.
NW Natural Resource Group: Accelerating Resilience for Small Forests
  • Their stewardship assistance program for forest owners provides access to educational workshops, forestry assistance, financial incentives, marketing, and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. Read more here.
