January 2016: Open by Appointment Only

We will be ringing in the New Year with a new project on our hands! Please be advised that our store, East Meets West, will be closed for improvements from January 1 until approximately January 21, 2016. However, East Meets West will be open for appointments during this time. For appointment availability, please contact your ZaCSA Board through the East Meets West Gift Shop Facebook page (www.facebook.com/eastmeetswest.zacsa) or the ZaCSA page (www.facebook.com/ZaCSA).

We are thrilled to announce that our highly anticipated new computer system will be installed! Additionally, inventory and a bit of a spring clean will be conducted. While our store remains the preferred choice of many families to find their unique Japanese gifts and décor, these modifications will allow us to provide the very best shopping experience to our Camp Zama Community.

As we undergo this update and recruitment period, we apologize for any inconvenience and offer our sincere thanks for your patience and support. Again, to make a store appointment, please contact your ZaCSA Board or to offer your volunteering assistance, please contact Naomi Conner.

Thank you!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Volunteers wanted for several leadership opportunities at East Meets West Gift Shop!

Volunteer Store Manager - We believe in building a strong and thriving community. One of the most significant means of giving back is through funds raised at East Meets West, making the role of Store Manager so vital to our mission. This role is fulfilled by providing a time commitment of 10 - 16 hours per week. Responsibilities include oversight and direction of the store, volunteer coordination, making deposits, running reports, and attending Board Meetings.

Volunteer Shift Supervisors (4 supervisors needed) - Would you like to put your expertise to work, but have limited time? Help East Meets West fulfill ZaCSA’s mission with just 4 hours per week during one of the available shifts: Morning Shift (Tuesday or Thursday) from 10:30am - 2:30pm or Afternoon Shift (Tuesday or Thursday) from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. Responsibilities entail running the store during your shift to include stocking/merchandising, customer service, volunteer management, and working on QuickBooks Point of Sale software.

General Store Volunteers - Become the face of ZaCSA and make a big difference to how our community sees us and the work we do. Help East Meets West be a success, meet new people, and gain retail experience. Shifts are available in 2-4 hour increments between 11am and 6pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Responsibilities include customer service, cleaning and organizing merchandise, working the register, and other projects as assigned.
Volunteer Training will be held on January 19, 21, 26, and 28. 10am - 2pm
at East Meets West Gift Shop, Building 375. Open to all people interested in volunteering
at East Meets West. All volunteers (old & new) need to be trained on the new computer system!

If you are interested in one of these exciting opportunities, please contact our Vice President, Naomi Conner, at zacsa.vicepresident@gmail.com.

Volunteer of the Month
Tanya Richey

In December, we awarded the Volunteer of the Month to Tanya Richey. She has been a valuable ZaCSA member and invaluable volunteer to fundraising, East Meets West Gift Shop, and Programs.  She is that type of person where anything you ask of her is possible. All of the artwork that she donates to ZaCSA is above and beyond expectations.

She is a behind the scenes gal that never asks for recognition or praise. The ZaCSA Board is happy to acknowledge her as Volunteer of the Month and how much her talents help us to be successful in all of our endeavors.
