GILMORE PARK COMMUNITY LEAGUE

January 2016

Dear Neighbours,

Gilmore Park News

Coyote in the Neighbourhood
A coyote has been spotted several times in the area of Gilmore Avenue in the late evening.  Follow the link for tips to avoid encountering a coyote: http://www.strathcona.ca/departments/transportation-and-agriculture-services/animals-and-wildlife/animals/coyotes/

Caroling
Thank you to everyone who joined us for caroling in December! A shining example of community spirit.

These are the people in your neighbourhood
This month we are featuring Ryan McKinley a Strathcona County Firefighter and our neighbour.  Ryan, his wife Maggie and their three children are active participants and volunteers in our community events.  This photo was taken at the Gilmore Park Pathway Party in August 2014.

Not only does Ryan keep our community safe as a first responder but he is also involved in the Strathcona County Snow Busters program.  You too can help a senior with snow clearing by following this link for more information

Neighbourhood Exchange
Many of you may have heard of Upcycling in Strathcona County, a Facebook group with over 6000 members where you can give away items.  This is a great idea that can also be applied to exchanging skills or sharing household items in our neighbourhood.

If you need to borrow a wheel barrow, furniture dolly or ladder or find help mending pants or to fix a faucet, post your request to the Gilmore Park Facebook page or email gilmorepark@live.com with your specific need for an item or skill.  We can not guarantee that someone can help but we can facilitate the sharing/exchange by spreading the word! #NeighbourPower

Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!
