County Office
The county Office will be closed for the Christmas Holidays from Monday 21st December to Monday January 4th 2016. Merry Christmas to everyone from all at County Office.

The 2015 County Review and AGM will be held on Thursday 23rd June 2016 at The Ashburton Hall in Winchester.
Postal Shooting Competition
The Liphook Scout Shooting Club are offering their range of postal shooting competitions (air rifle & air pistol at 6 yards and 10 metres) again this winter.

CALLING ALL GSLS
Due to popular demand a GSL management workshop will take place on the 12th March 2016 – venue to be confirmed but likely to be central to the county.
This is a pilot and will be restricted to the first 40 applicants (Although priority will be given to ensure at least one from each district). If we are oversubscribed we will run a second one in the autumn.

First Aid Course - 2 day
A two day first aid course (known as a full first aid course) is required for people who want to teach First Response or those holding a Terrain 2 permit. We are looking at running a course for up to 12 people, the cost of which would be around £98 per person. If you are interested, please let me know and if we have enough interest we will look at holding a course during
Q1 next year.

Fancy Learning Archery
for Scout members over 10.
6 week course, date for 2016 1st - 7th march, 6th June - 11th July and 3rd Oct - 7th Nov.
Only £30 in Southampton, Monday evenings 6:30pm - 8:15pm.

Adult Training Update

HQ Training Updates
Now training updates are coming through in Scouting Plus we will be publishing updates to Adult Training on the County website for easy reference. These updates can be downloaded in pdf format via the the link on the TA and LTM pages.
 
Module 10 (First Aid)
New dates for M10 have now been added for 2016 and can be found on the calendar on the District Adult Training page.
 
Module 36 (Special Needs)
A date for M36 has been added to the County Adult Training page. It will be run on Saturday 5th March 2016 at Shedfield.
This module aims to provide information, support and resources for those working with young people with special needs.

County Development Board Meeting and Forum – January 11th 2016
 
The next County Development Board meeting and Forum will take place on Monday 11th January at the Worthies Sports and Social Club, Winchester.
If you are involved in development work for your District/Group or interested to hear an update on the County projects then please join us. You will be able to contribute by sharing what is going on in your area and hear ideas from others around the County. One topic of discussion will the recent Demos report into ‘Learning by Doing’ and how this might impact on local scouting: http://www.demos.co.uk/project/learning-by-doing/.

ADULT TRAINING UPDATES

GSL Management workshop
A GSL management workshop has been arranged for Saturday 12th March 2016 â€“ venue to be confirmed but likely to be centrally in the county.

Group Scout Leaders play a key role in supporting and developing Scouting at Group level and this workshop will be a practical day to help you in this important role.

Train the Trainer course
Hampshire Scouts Training team are running a Train the Trainer course on 25/26 June (non-residential) for anyone who would like to gain new skills in this area and in the process achieve their Module 29 (Presenting Skills) and 31 (Delivering a training experience).

The course is being held centrally in the County, venue TBC, and will be a fun and active course that will provide participants with lots of opportunities to practise and perfect their presenting skills in a safe friendly environment as well as learning about how to plan, deliver and evaluate an effective learning experience. This is also an opportunity to meet the team and find out more about becoming involved in delivering training in Hampshire.
There are limited places on this course which will be allocated on a first come first served basis so if you are interested either download and complete an application form or use the online form.

We will provide you with joining instructions etc nearer the time.

Water Activities
The spring of 2016 has opportunities for members to gain adventurous activity permits in a range of water activities (maximum B2 water classification). These include opportunities for young people to gain personal & leadership activity permits. 
Assessments will be held on the following dates:
 
9th April 2016: Pulling (09.00am) & Dingy Sailing (1.00pm)
 
10th April 2016: Kayaking (09.00am & Canoeing (1.00pm)
 
16th & 17th April 2016: Powerboating (09.00am)
 
23rd April 2016: Rafting (1.00pm)
 
We will also be holding theory sessions around the County from mid February to mid March. These are essential for anyone attending the assessment days. These will be generic for water sports and the activity specifics will be completed on assessment days. Please advise Joan by 15 January 2016 if wishing to attend a theory session, after which we will advise dates and venues.
