Join us for worship will resume in January

A missional mindset, is an approach, an understanding that we must intentionally and with dedicated effort seek out, invite and bring others into a relationship with Christ Jesus. One of the ways we're doing such at St. Peter's is with our Powerful Praise worship experience. Please share with persons this opportunity for a radically different worship experience. Pray for it to be fruitful and financially donate to it that it may better reach out. Please join us again in the New Year, January 9th and 23rd. Powerful Praise will be on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 5P.

Card Ministry

The United Methodist Women will meet the 4th Sunday of each month to write cards to church family and friends. Please join us for this inspirational and supportive project. Any questions please contact
Debbie Miller.
Fill the Pantry

January 1st through March 31st St. Peter's will be hosting the Emergency Winter Shelter for Women and Families.  Beginning December 13th, we will be collecting donations of non-perishable breakfast and snack items to "fill the pantry".  We have also received seed money to be used to match monetary contributions for perishable items like milk and fresh fruit.

Let's make sure that no one leaves St, Peter's hungry!
Winter Shelter Welcome Meal

St. Peter’s will provide a welcome dinner for Shelter guests on Sunday, January 3rd. There is a sign-up poster in the church Narthex for contributing items such as macaroni and cheese casserole or cookies or fruit. Please look and see what items are needed.
Pastoral Care

St. Peters’ UMC members,
If a member of our church has an extended illness and wishes a visit from Pastoral Partners, please consult Rev. Steve Baber who will assign a Pastoral Partner.  Annually In December our committee gathers in the fellowship hall to create gifts of love for the shut-ins. All members are welcome to assist us creating these packages.  Debbie Miller graciously creates cookie packages.
Online Shop with the UMC Market

The UMC Market is new and improved and offers us and our friends and family, the opportunity to receive a percentage rebate back for shopping via the UMC Market website at popular stores..  The percentage donation varies by store but can be anywhere from 1% to as high as 14% for those who purchase ink for their printers.  Sign up is easy and you will be immediately taken to the page which shows you all the merchants who are participating.  Once you have signed up, each time you shop you can enter via the UMC Market and then select the merchant of your choice to start shopping and receive the discount.  These donations will come back to St. Peter’s to help supplement our budget.

Winter Shelter Opens Soon

In 2016 St. Peter’s will again host the Winter Shelter for women and families. The POD for their storage will be delivered on Wednesday, December 30th to the usual spot at the side of the church by the waste bins. The women and families will arrive on January first. We are grateful that we have the space to provide a warm, dry facility for those who do not have a place to sleep. We also hope to provide at least one dinner each month through March.

As usual, the staff from Catholic Community Services will arrive before 8 pm and the guests will arrive not before 8:30 P. The guests will depart by 7:30 am in the morning. And the staff by 8:30 A. Shelter guests are instructed to not be on the church grounds outside of those hours. Only the NE 8th St. entrance will be used. New this year is a curfew of 10 P so guests will not be arriving after that time. If a guest is at the church prior to 8:30 P, a church member should politely ask the guest to come back at 8:30 P. Note that services are on a first come, first serve basis and the limit of 50 guests per evening will be enforced.

Members of the congregation are welcome to visit the Shelter any evening. Volunteers will be welcome to assist with the check-in and dinner process. Please contact Pat King at jm7041@comcast.net. Additionally, volunteers are sought to help with providing dinners, (see separate article).

Meals for the Winter Shelter

Anyone wanting to provide a meal for the Winter Shelter can go to this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0f48adaf2ba02-winter to find an appropriate date. It would be helpful to call the Shelter manager, Cynthia McGee, at 206-456-3107, a few days ahead to find out the number of people in the Shelter. Andrea Liggett (425-822-0295 x110) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland is also available for questions.

St. Peter’s will provide dinner for the Shelter on Sunday evening, January 3rd. We have had a donation of a ham (frozen now) and need donations of a large casserole of macaroni and cheese (10 to 12 servings) from 4 people. Please contact Pat King at jm7041@comcast.net to volunteer. Also needing some fresh fruit, salad, granola bars, juice boxes and cookies.

Your help is appreciated.

Women's Fellowship

Please join us for “Women’s Fellowship” on the third Wednesday of each month from 10 A until noon in the Fellowship Hall. This is a time for socializing and sharing fellowship. Those who are crafty can bring their knitting projects or sewing projects or other crafts. As we did with our previous Wednesday Socials you can share coffee and conversation with your friends. We are adding another element with knitting, crafting, and sewing for those who desire. Some of us will be working on preparing sewing projects for the ladies who like to sew. Refreshments will be served. Questions call Diana Wilson, 425-641-3297. All women are invited.
