Good news for renewable energy at COP 21!

195 countries signed a new climate deal called the "Paris Agreement" at the recent UNFCCC COP 21/CMP 11. Countries committed to keeping the rise in global temperatures below two degrees, and set a 1.5-degree rise as an aspirational goal. Canada has pledged to reduce its emissions by 30 per cent from 2005 levels, by 2030. 1000 mayors of the world have also pledged to move to 100% renewable energy by 2050. Vancouver, Sydney, Stockholm and Las Vegas have already committed to using 100% renewable energy in the coming decades. Read all about it here!
New call for proposals!

Although BFN is funded up to Q1 of 2017, we’re up for renewal in the summer of 2016, and we’re looking for great new research ideas! A call for proposals is set to launch on December 21st, 2015, covering the same themes as BFN’s current Phase II Projects. Successful candidates will have their research included in BFN’s strategic plan for 2017-2022, which will be submitted to the NCE in support of our renewal. Be sure to check our call for proposals page over the holidays to get a head start.
