Naropa University is convening a forum to explore how contemplative practice enriches and improves end-of-life care for practitioners, professionals, and patients. Join the conversation on local and national needs, share best practices, and consider the ethical implications of contemplative care. Naropa University and the University of Colorado - Boulder invite you to join us for our annual collaborative event, the Career for a Cause Meet & Greet! Alumni and students from both universities are invited for a chance to engage with organizations that address important causes and issues, helping to make meaningful change in the world. The event will be from 4 pm - 7 pm at the University of Colorado - Boulder's UMC.

Naropa’s Center for the Advancement of Contemplative Education (CACE) is hosting a conference this coming March 18-21, 2016, on the future of higher education, co-sponsored with The Center for Contemplative Mind in Society. Jeff Huck, BA '98, was featured in Taos News for his work as a chef creating a menu of healthy alternatives for people on the go. Huck works to combine his passion for education, anthrophology and cooking. He is currently the kitchen manager at Cid’s Food Market in Taos, NM. Amy Hartman, MA '08, was highlighted in The Mountain-Ear for her private practice, Peak to Peak Counseling, in Nederland, CO. Hartman welcomes masters degree student interns to her practice, which helps her to offer sliding scale counseling and has proven to be a program that works successfully for everyone involved. Colleen Thomas, MLA '02, and Rodrigo Torres created the first ever Techno Cosmic Wedding on April 8, 2015 in Crockett California. The ritual celebrated relationship in all of its forms (self, family/Ancestors, friendship, romance, relationship to the natural world). Learn more about Thomas' Techno Cosmic Wedding.
Mindi K. Counts, BA '08, continues her work with the Inner Ocean Empowerment Project as a way to see and meet the needs of our world. Counts recently hosted an acupuncture clinic in Colorado Springs for trauma relief with the CAMRC (Colorado Acupuncture Medical Reserve Corps) that mobilizes in disasters and trauma. This is the same kind of clinic Counts has hosted all around the world. Her next project will take her back to Nepal. Learn more about Counts' work.
Heather Sanche, BA '98, is an Inter Arts-Theatre studies and Early Childhood Education alumni. Sanche has recently been asked to write for Buddhist Door, a Buddhist Magazine out of Canada based in Hong Kong. She is writing about her experience as a buddhist and mother. Sanche shares, "As I write, I find myself reflecting on much of what I learned at Naropa, which was the beginning of a life long journey into practice and study of buddhism as well as my career as an ECE educator." The spring semester just kicked off and we welcomed a whole new class to Naropa University. They came from 34 states and four foreign countries, and brought with them the openness, dedication, and passion that marks all of those within our community. To those of you who recommended members of this spring class- thank you!
