#1Lib1Ref
There was a really well-attended panel session focussing on Wikipedia at NDF2015. Many of us are contributing to it, using it, and thinking about how it fits into our professional worlds.
There’s a great opportunity to get involved. Wikipedia is 15 years old this month and there’s a campaign under way, #1Lib1Ref (One Librarian, One Reference), from January 15–23, 2016.
It’s remit is simple - to make Wikipedia better by adding references to articles, especially those including “[citation needed]”. The campaign highlights a number of things:
- Wikipedia is a collective, collaborative effort, working towards a vision of being "the sum of all human knowledge."
- Wikipedia is a first stop for researchers.
- Librarians are the go-to people for references
Find out more about the campaign, and how to contribute here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref If you're in Dunedin, Sara Barham will be hosting a get together on 22 January.
