We hope you enjoyed our new-look Newsletter last month and have managed to try out the new website. If there is anything you spot about either the website or the newsletter, that you think we should know about, then please don't hesitate to mention it to us.
In this edition you will find a reminder that we're selling Christmas trees again this year. Prices start from £40 for high quality trees. You will also find information on the two Air Rifle Courses and two Archery Courses arranged for 2016. You won't miss our eye-catching flyer of the Pirate Funday coming up in June 2016 (thanks to Jamie, our Deputy District Commissioner and marketing, creative whiz). Some of you may notice that the date of the Funday has changed from its usual weekend as it clashed with the school half term break.
Our Crews have been busy as usual and we will dedicate a section to them in each edition of the newsletter to give them recognition for all their hard work and commitment. Frylands would definitely look very different if it wasn't for them.
That's it for now but we do hope you have a lovely Christmas and a really happy new year visiting Frylands Wood lots and lots.
We look forward to seeing you at Frylands Wood very soon!

Traversing Wall Update
In the last edition of the Newsletter we told you about our new Traversing Wall activity. We're please to report that we've already had around 20 groups use the wall and it has been great fun with many planning to re-book. This weekend Andy, Peter and Alan have added some LED floodlights which were kindly supplied at half price by Newey & Eyre (www.neweysonline.co.uk). As you'll see below, the Traversing Wall can now be used after sunset so adding to activities that can be booked for your mid-week evening sessions. With the roof keeping the rain off the wall, it's now a versatile weather proof activity. So please book up and see what you think.
Service Crew Update
Our lovely volunteer Crew have been busy as usual:
Brian has fitted a brand new, larger sink in Pembroke One. It was on our to do list but the old one broke so that sped it along! Brian has also been continuing his mission to finish tiling the Crew Hut kitchen which is proving tricky with some rather uneven walls!
Thanks to Jason for helping Mark and Barry to take two trailers full of rubbish and large items for recycling to the dump that had accumulated over the year. The London Wildlife Trust also removed some items from behind their container area by the front gate so making behind the office & the driveway area much clearer.
During their regular monthly session, as well as their usual tidy of the camp fire circle, the Third Thursday Club raked up a mountain of leaves, sorted out the rope box, repaired the Chapel sign and one of its bench seats plus cleared the edge of the Pembroke Two car park that had become a bit over run with brambles and rotted down leaves. An amazing list for a small team in one morning!
Since the last newsletter we've had two weekend crews in, Squirrel Squad and the LC Crew. As well as covering the site to allow Barry and Penny some precious weekend family time, between them they have;
Repaired and cleared gutters plus installed leaf guards to prevent build up next year
Set up the Christmas Tree selling area including welding repairs to Harris fencing to save buying more
Added signs to the Summer house doors
Re-attached wind-damaged netting to the climbing tower
Put out Christmas Tree road signs and helped sell the first batch
Plus other jobs too many to list......
The 5th West Wickham Scouts also did some site service and helped out by raking chestnut cases and leaves from around the tunnel and grass areas.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all our Crew, including those not mentioned specifically above, for making the fun at Frylands Wood happen.
To be a member of a service crew, you must be over 14 and be willing to be a member of The Scout Association.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to you and Penny for all your help organising the party."
