Hillfray Drive and Ashington Grove - Bin Collection Petition
A few months ago, Roger & Hazel submitted a petition to the Council for the residents of Hillfray Drive and Ashington Grove with respect to their intermittent bin collect.

This petition is being considered by the Cabinet Member for Public Services at a meeting on Tuesday 15th December which starts at 9.30am in Committee Rooms 2 and 3 at the Council House. Anyone can attend.

New Gas Pipe Works
A few residents have asked Mark when work will be completed in and around Baron’s Croft and Baron’s Field roads. Currently, new gas pipes are being laid with various sections of the road dug up and safety barriers across the road and pavements.

Mark contacted National Grid who said all work should be completed by 19th December. Baron’s Croft is already finished.

If you wish to contact National Grid about the current works, please try; 08452461285.

Parking Issues on Silksby Street & Lichfield Road
Recently, a resident contacted us with his concerns about cars parking on the corner of Silksby Street & Lichfield Road which totally blocked it for pedestrians. This is the response from Adrian Williams, Service Supervisor,Parking Services Team

Hi Cllr Bailey,
In response to the email regarding vehicles parking on the footpath at the bottom of Silksby Street and Lichfield Road. This area of Silksby Street is not part of the residents parking zone so from an enforcement point of view we can only issue penalty charge notices to vehicles that are parked across a residents dropped kerb/footway. We would only do this if the resident called parking services and informed us they could not gain access/exit to their driveway. There are no restrictions in place for the area as it is not in the residents parking zone.

If the vehicles are parked up on the footpath and there are double yellow lines present we can enforce on a 01 contravention(which is parked on double yellow lines). However at the corner of Silksby/Lichfield road there is no corner protection, so we are unable to enforce.

If the vehicles are parked up on the pavement, this is classed as highway obstruction which is a matter for the police to deal with as civil enforcement officers do not have the power to enforce obstruction. This would obviously change if double yellow lines were painted on the road.

Petition for a reduction in the speed limit on London Road
So far 22 people have signed Mark’s e-petition for a reduction in the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph on a section of London Road from Allard Way to Chase Avenue? If you’d like to show your support then click here.

We’ve noted that also on the site someone has started a petition to re-open Stoney Road to all traffic.

Cheylesmore Mistletoe “For Sale”
This week the Coventry tree wardens were in Humphrey Burtons Road/ Stoney Road cutting mistletoe for selling for the Lord Mayor’s Charities. As this area is part of Cheylesmore’s parking scheme they were very appreciative of residents who allowed them to park in their drive and who lent them parking discs. They will be cutting some more next week because the trees are laden.

Hazel said that last year their sale of mistletoe raised £500 for her Lord Mayor charities.
