THE WOODSIDE RAMBLE

Hi, <<First Name>>!

Inside Trail Racing's next event, the
Woodside Ramble is coming up this Sunday, December 13. The forested slopes and steep, cool canyons of Huddart and Wunderlich County Parks comprise a trail running paradise within the heart of the San Francisco Peninsula. Participants will enjoy the beautiful trails under the canopy of towering 2nd and 3rd generation, moss covered redwoods as they clip past the many small streams and gullies along the way. Distances of 10K, Half Marathon, 35K and 50K make for the perfect proving grounds for runners, and hikers, of all abilities–from the first time trail runner to the grizzled, ultra-marathon veteran.

Please make sure to read through this entire email, as it contains important information about the race logistics and all of the festivities leading up to the event.

Of course, we couldn't host an event such as this without the support our incredible volunteers. Please be sure to thank everyone who has taken the time out of their schedules to help ensure you have a safe and fun race experience.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Woodside this weekend!

Aid Station Information

Sunrise for Woodside, CA - 7:15 AM
Sunset for Woodside, CA - 4:52 PM

Aid Station Information
Aid Stations will be located approximately every 5 - 8 miles along the course. Expect to find variety at all of our aid stations, including a plethora of Clif Bar and Gu products, as well as sweet and salty offerings like trail mix, pretzels, potato chips, Oreo cookies, Pop Tarts, boiled potatoes with salt, PB&J sandwiches, regular soda (Coke or Pepsi), Mountain Dew, Ginger Ale, water,
Tailwind Endurance Fuel, M&M’s, Mike & Ike’s, salt tablets… you get the idea. There will also be general first aid items. We strongly encourage all runners to carry at least one 20oz bottle during their run.
COURSE MARKINGS

The course markings are color coded as follows:

50K - Yellow Out > Orange > Yellow Return
35K - Yellow Out > Orange Out/Back to Bear Gulch AS  > Yellow Return
Half - Yellow > Red/White Shortcut > Yellow Return
10K - Pink Loop

In addition to being marked with colored ribbon, there will be signs and/or flour arrows at critical intersections. The most important course marking is the striped ribbon. It indicates a turn at an upcoming intersection. There will be at least two striped ribbons before a turn. The striped ribbons will be placed before and on the same side as the upcoming turn. After you complete the turn, there will be ribbons indicating the correct route (“confidence” ribbons). There will also be blue ribbons on the course. If you run past a blue ribbon you are going the wrong way! If you don't see the proper colored ribbon for your course for 4 - 5 minutes, you are off course. If you get off course, you should retrace your path until you find where you left the course and then continue along the marked course.

Occasionally, vandalism does happen on the course. Even though the route will be marked extremely well, we do recommend that you carry a map with you while you are running.

Please have your bib number clearly visible when you approach an aid station and when you cross the finish line to ensure accurate results. Your bib number will be color coded which indicates the distance that you're running. If you want to change your distance, please let us know at check-in, at the latest. If you do decide to change your distance while running, you must let the nearest aid station, and finish line volunteer or timer, know.

WEATHER REPORT FOR WOODSIDE

It looks as though we are in store for our first wet race in a few years, and it couldn't happen at a better park.  The trails of Huddart and Wunderlich have been recently converted to all-weather trails, meaning they handle the wet stuff extremely well.  However, being that this is the Bay Area you never really know what you’re going to get come race day. We recommend that anyone running the Half Marathon, or longer, carry at least 20 ounces of water with them while they run.

TRAIL ETIQUETTE

We are committed to maintaining the beauty and sensitive nature of the trails and parks we run in. To that end, please respect the trails and do not litter. If you are seen littering you will be disqualified from the race. Please stay on course and out of all environmentally sensitive areas.

You can expect to encounter equestrians, mountain bikers, and hikers on the trails. Please be aware of all trail users and be cautious as you approach any horses. If the rider asks you to slow down, or walk, please heed their warning... it is for your own safety. If you are listening to music, please keep the volume low so you can hear other trail users call out.

Please be courteous on the trail. If you're passing another runner or hiker, announce your approach. On out and back sections please give the uphill runner the right of way.

If you choose to listen to music while on the trails, please be sure to keep the volume low, and to remove your headphones as you approach an aid station or the finish line.
AFTER YOUR RACE

Stick around after your run to enjoy the fun and food with your fellow runners. Shirts will be given to the runners who pre-ordered one after they finish. We try to have shirts available for race day registrations as well, but cannot guarantee a shirt size.  Overall awards will be given to the top male and female finisher in each distance.  Age Group awards are also given to the top 3 in each age group.
RESULTS & AWARDS

Overall and Age Group results will be posted regularly throughout the day on the display board near the timing tent. If you don’t see your names on the results please be patient, they will be posted shortly. Awards are given out to the top male and female overall finishers as well as the top three in each age group. You may pick up your award at the awards tent after results are posted.

Overall winners (male and female) of each race distance will receive a custom glass stein and an item from the Inside Trail swag bag.
