A WALK-THRU OF RACE DAY
Part 2: During Your Race

What To Expect During Your Race:

Wear your bib for the correct day. Each bib is labeled at the top with either "eve" or "day". You won't be timed if you wear the wrong one.

Corral A half and full marathon folks, be sure to get your Chaser Bib to wear on your back during the race.

When the race starts, we pull only the current corral up to the start line. Wait and watch for when to move up to the start.
You can always move back a corral - but you won't be allowed to start in a faster corral, and please do not argue with my volunteers who won't allow you to start faster. Double-double folks can line up in any corral for the 5K.

Enjoy the great camaraderie on the course. Wear a costume or tutu or dress up however you want - you will NOT be alone. It's a festive celebration of the end of one year and the start of the next. Our racers are known for being super cheerful and encouraging to each other.

The course maps are on the website. Every participant is expected to know and be able to follow the route on their own. There will be arrow signs on the course as well. Follow the true course, not just the person in front of you!

Aid Stations are listed on the website. Know how often they are so you can plan. The sports drink on the marathon and half marathon courses is Lemon-Lime Gatorade.

Litter on the course is not only frowned upon - littering will get you disqualified and jeopardize our ability to use the trail in the future! If you end up with trash outside of an aid station, hold it until the next aid station!

If you need to discard clothes during the race, please only do so at an aid station so we don't have to haul it all down the trail to an access point.

For half and full marathoners, at the end of each loop, if you are just passing through, go to the right and do NOT go through the finish line arch. If you aren't finishing, stay right!

Thank the aid station volunteers who represent the Allen Lady Eagles Lacrosse Booster Club, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and a local cub scout pack.

We are still needing more volunteers for race morning packet pickup. Thursday and Friday, 7:10 to 8:20 for half/full marathon packet pickup. Please hit reply and tell us if you can help! Otherwise, get to packet pickup EARLY in the packet pickup window in case there is a line if we don't recruit more runners to volunteers.

Need to catch up on a pre-race email you missed?

We're posting links to all of the race week emails on the race website too
No midrace distance switches are allowed. If you can not finish what you started, do not go through the finish line arch - we do not have medals for those who drop down and crossing the finish line timing mat will screw up timing for everyone. If you can not finish, go to the RIGHT to stay on the course through the timing mat and then head over to the Info Desk to have us record your drop out. We need to record your drop. Thanks.
Drop Bag Tent:
Half and full marathoners can duck in here between loops to access their bags and change gear or do whatever they need to do. PLEASE toss your trash afterwards. Historically that tent is left a mess for my volunteers to clean up. I don't want to stop making the tent an option because of the amount of litter.

Rules Reminder:
No one may have an unregistered pacer.
Please make sure friends know not to bandit the course (run without registering).
Do not give your bib to someone else to wear race day.

Breaking the rules can lead to disqualification or sometimes even a banned from The Active Joe events. I'd love to get through a year where I don't have to DQ or ban anyone! :-)
