It's been a great training year for us here at Ravelin Group! Sincere thanks to all of our students; your shared experiences, updates and feedback help me to become a better instructor.
How's your practice going? Remember, consistent dry-fire practice and ongoing training are vital to establishing, maintaining and increasing your defensive skills.
Tip: Make a New Year's Resolution to perform ten dry-fire practice draws from your holster or purse before you leave your house to begin each day.
Too busy for a formal live-fire training course? We offer informal 2 hour non-live-fire classes at Messiah Baptist Church on the 2nd and 4th Mondays each month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. These informal classes are a good way to keep your hand in basic gun-handling skills and dry-fire drills.
The goal in our training sessions is to ingrain proper and efficient techniques. As an experienced instructor, I can point out trouble spots and offer timely advice before an error becomes permanent. This kind of feedback is invaluable in eliminating ineffective or potentially dangerous habits.
This is true for all of us regardless of experience: it is impossible to train well all by yourself! We must discipline our minds and bodies to be competent and confident. In that way, we can increase our personal safety. We must all strive to live aware and peacefully in these troubled times.
