President’s Message

Dear Members and Friends,

My Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy New Year!

These are the days that have been given to us;
let us rejoice and be glad in them.
These are the days of our lives;
let us live them well in love and service.
These are the days of mystery and wonder;
let us cherish and celebrate them in gratitude together.
These are the days that have been given to us;
let us make of them stories worth telling to those who come after us.
       (W. Murry)

The new calendar year and the last six months of our fiscal year are at hand. With input from members and church professionals, the Board of Trustees has arrived at two very important needs for CUUC……a home of its own and an identifying brand.   Our hope is that together we will work to achieve that which is essential to the success of CUUC.

Please note in the Agenda for our Semi Annual meeting listed below, the Nominating Committee is being activated.  If approached to serve on the BOT by a member of this committee, please give it serious consideration……dedicated people willing to serve is another essential component to the success of CUUC.  It takes all of us to keep the momentum moving forward.

The first Order of Business for the new year is our Semi Annual Meeting.  It will follow our morning service on January 17, 2016.  Please consider this your official notice.

PFLAG monthly meetings returns
to New Smyrna Beach

Changes are afoot in our chapter and we wanted to let you know the latest news.  After receiving feedback from community members as well as our own observations, we have made the decision to move the location of our monthly meeting back to the United Church of Christ, 203 Washington Street in New Smyrna Beach.  For the past year and a half, we have received a warm welcome from New Church Family, and we will continue to support one another.  But, the attendance slowly declined and some meetings there were just 3 people there, 2 of whom were PFLAG board members.  Our hopes to attract people from Ormond Beach and Flagler County never came to fruition.

So, we return to our roots with the new year.  Our meeting time will continue to be the 2nd Wednesday of every month (except June, July, and August), starting at 7 PM.  We hope to see many of you, as well as some new faces, at the meeting on January 13.  Plans are already underway for the 5th Annual Volusia Pride Festival, so stay tuned for more info on that!

With rainbow pride,

Kathy (386) 299-0698, Judy (386) 566-2422, and Joanne
