New Year Greetings to all!

It’s that time of year when the excitement of the future, viewed through the prism of the past accomplishments, leads us all to making resolutions.

The Twinsburg of Chamber of Commerce is no exception.

Have you thought about joining the Chamber? Chamber members benefit from our educational seminars and workshops, the annual golf outing, "3Chamber" events with the Solon and Aurora Chambers of Commerce, networking events, volunteer opportunities, business promotions, updates on legislation as it relates to your business and money-saving opportunities through healthcare and workers’ compensation premiums. The Chamber events were a huge success. The newly established Scholarship Fund has gained momentum and we are very excited about issuing the very first scholarship awards to deserving students in the district at a luncheon this Spring.

On the note of upcoming events, this month we will be hosting our 3rd Annual 3Chamber Women’s Expo, “New Year, New You” on January 28, 2016 at the Twinsburg Hilton Garden Inn.  Admission is FREE!  Please plan ahead to participate in this hugely successful event.

Peter DeSouza Named 2015 Business Person of the Year at Annual Holiday Luncheon! 
Peter presently serves as Business Manager at Violet Orthodontics, a full service orthodontic practice for children, teenagers and adults. He oversees a growth strategy designed to build relationships with referring dental offices, forge partnerships with schools and media organizations, reach community groups through grassroots tactics and targeted direct to consumer initiatives.

In 2005, he founded United in Diversity, a marketing consulting firm in partnership with Marcus Thomas LLC. The firm specialized in helping companies to increase the relevance of their brands and to build profitable relationships with diverse market segments. Previously, as Senior Vice President at Admerasia, he led Strategic Planning and Business Development.
 
Peter has more than 20 years of advertising, direct response and interactive marketing experience in India and the United States. After a successful career in sales at Thomas Cook India Ltd. and The American Express Company, he went on to work at leading Advertising Agencies –  Foote Cone and Belding and Young & Rubicam Inc. Over the years, he has managed Marketing assignments for a range of blue chip accounts – E*Trade Financial Corporation, Citibank, N.A., MetLife Inc., AT&T, Mercedes Benz USA, United Airlines Corporation, MCI WorldCom, Foxwoods Resort Casino and United States Postal Service, among others. The Aurora, Beachwood, Chagrin Valley, Hudson, Solon and Twinsburg Chambers of Commerce are excited to announce the creation of the Western Reserve Safety Council (WRSC). The Chambers of Commerce will partner on this new chamber program in conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Workers ‘Compensation. The WRSC will be the 80th Safety Council in the State of Ohio. Safari Books Online is a digital library that provides access to over 2,352 technology and business books from leading publishers as well as a collection of online instructional videos.  Developers, designers and IT professionals can find info on essential technologies, including; certification, enterprise computing, Java, Linux/Unix, Web development, Windows, XML and data analytics.  Entrepreneurs and managers can also research a wide range of critical business skills, from problem solving and leadership to customer service and employee performance.  The videos in the collection provide instruction on web design, software development, and graphics. Specific training videos are available for software such as Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, Mac OS X, Dreamweaver, Flash, Windows XP, and Microsoft Office.

The true benefit of the database is that users can search all resources simultaneously online, and find exactly the information they need from a source they can trust, all in a fraction of the time they’d spend searching elsewhere.  They can also browse a list of subjects or content in specific titles just as they would books in print.  Each title contains a complete table of contents with chapter links for easy page-to-page browsing. All charts, graphs, and other images are included just as originally published, ensuring that users get total access to the entire range of content offered in each title.

Safari Books Online is available in the Learning & Research section of the library website www.twinsburglibrary.org.  Users must have a valid Twinsburg Library card to access this database from their home or office computer.
