December Flashback

Sports Day - 23rd December

The theme for this year’s Sports day was ‘soccer’. For the last three weeks of December, in addition to building on their soccer skills, our students engaged in various team-building activities. They attended team lunches to come up with their team names and cheerleading slogans, and to appoint team leaders. They also painted their jerseys, made posters and pom-poms and helped in the planning and organization of this event. Our students participated enthusiastically in this real-world event-planning experience. A huge shout out to Mr. Frazer, the Sensory Motor Department, and all the therapists for facilitating this fantastic event!

Parent Support Group - 9th December

This month, our Parent Support Group revolved around ‘gratitude’. Parents shared about some things they were grateful for this past year, and some things they were looking forward to in the year ahead. They also shared personal anecdotes of practicing the attitude of gratitude. It was a great session to end the year with.

Parent Teacher Conferences - 21st & 22nd December

We were enthused and inspired by the effort invested by the parents in studying the Individualized Education Plans and Reports. It was great to see some of the Middle School students attend the meetings, check their progress from the beginning of the year, and take responsibility for their personal goals for the remainder of the year.

Potluck - 9th December

The Invictus Superheroes and Trailblazers held an end-of-term party in their ‘Myself as a Learner’ class. They planned and executed a potluck, as a real-life application of their Executive Functioning (EF) skills. Between the Food and Entertainment Committees, not a detail was missed! The students had a great time listening to music, eating delicious food, and engaging in conversation with their peers. The Invictus Superheroes even changed the ambience of their homeroom with balloons and party lights. It was truly remarkable to see both homerooms take complete charge and display their EF skills.

Middle School and NIOS Exams - 14th-17th December

The second week of December saw our Middle School and NIOS students give their first set of exams for this academic year. The mid-term exams were a great learning opportunity for the students as they were exposed to various test-taking and study skills, that will continue to be a focus for the remainder of the year. Our NIOS students, whose papers were a replica of the Board exam papers, attempted their first three-hour exam. Well done students!
