 City Centre TIF Success

The life of the City Centre tax-increment financing (TIF) district came to an end recently, but its positive impact on our community will live on for many years.

In the time since the City Centre TIF was set up in 1991, growth has boomed in the 585-acre development area between St. Peters Barnes-Jewish Hospital on the east and the Costco/Mid Rivers Mall area on the west, and from the City Centre complex near the south border to I-70 on the north.

This growth has created more than 2,000 new jobs, new tax revenue for schools, roads, fire protection, libraries and more, new shopping opportunities, medical offices, banks, new recreational opportunities, and a more attractive area to draw future development.

Projects made possible by the City Centre TIF include the Costco development, JC Penney and surrounding Mid Rivers Mall expansion, Menards, Executive Centre Parkway (funded partially with the TIF), new commercial offices and medical offices, a senior care facility, a Social Security Office, and the St. Peters Rec-Plex.

“Our residents are the big winners here,” said Mayor Len Pagano. “New commercial development lessens your tax burden and provides more jobs and shopping opportunities closer to home. We now have a broader tax base to help fund streets, parks, stormwater improvements, police protection and other City services important to you. That all adds up to a direct and positive impact on your life as a St. Peters resident—and why St. Peters is often cited as one of America’s best places to live.”

If someone contacts you from the IRS, a charity, your bank/credit card company or a business, you should never trust that the person on the other end is being truthful. Make your own contacts to ensure you are not being scammed. LEARN MORE.
