A Time of Reflection

I love this time of year! Not only is it the season of giving, but it’s also a time to reflect on the past twelve months as we look forward to 2016. Each New Year brings new opportunities, new experiences and new memories. Earlier this month we put together an interactive Christmas greeting for the community. The video captured some of the highlights of the past year in Meridian. We had a couple of “firsts” including 'Do The Right' day – one day designed to start a movement of compassion. We also held the Meridian Youth Farmers Market Preview Party – a sampling of a weekly event coming summer 2016. From new City facilities to road improvements and a number of significant groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings, it has been a tremendous year for our City. Tis the Season for Giving
Local students and boy scouts collected items including toys and care packages for crime victims that will be given to children and teens through the Meridian Police Department's Victim Witness Coordinators.
The annual "Shop with a Cop" event with the Meridian Police and Ada County Sheriff's Departments produced gifts for over 80 kids! The Meridian Fire Administration Staff helped local teen, Randy B, with his Sock Drive by purchasing 228 pairs of socks.
Proceeds from the Parks and Recreation Department's annual holiday volleyball tournament provided presents for 70 kids in Meridian!
