Texas WWICC Website and Forum

Mike and Will Visconage have done a great job of putting together a website for us.  Click the picture above to visit the site.

A couple of the notable features are, a forum and events areas.

The FORUM will be a great place to share information and have discussions with other interested people about many topics.  Take a look and let us know if you would like  a "board" on a topic not listed.

Under EVENTS, you can list events you are hosting or learn about.

This website can be a great way to build our new community of people interested in the WWI Centennial.  Give it a try.

New Contacts and Outreach Information Available.
Our contacts and outreach organizations are over 100.  To make it convenient for you to keep up and reach out to others, we have added a spreadsheet to the website.

Under the ABOUT tab, you will find the RESOURCES area. You will need to log in to use this area.  Registering and logging in are simple.  On the bottom right corner of the home page you will find links to: Login, Log Out, and Register. Just click Register and follow the instructions.

One of the great resources is a list of over 100 people we are in contact with.  Look for it under the Outreach section.
Texas Veterans Search Underway
There are some impressive results being uncovered by a handful of researchers looking for WW I Texas veterans.  Bill Morris of the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, has discovered death records on over 2,500 Texas veterans. That is more than the total number of Texans listed with the Library of Congress for WW I.

Others are searching cemeteries for graves or looking for African-American veterans.
You can learn more on the Facebook page and the website in the Forum.

Flanders Poppies in Texas
We have found a great Texas source for Flanders Poppies, Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg.  Check out their website. click here.

You will need to plant soon if you want flowers by March.
January Meeting
We are planning for another organizational meeting in January.  Please let us know your preferences; day, night, weekday, weekend. If we need to we will hold two meeting like we did last month.

Since 1990, the city of Georgetwon, Texas has held an annual poppy festival.  The seeds that started the poppy fields in the area came from Europe, sent by a Texas WW I soldier.  The 2016 event will be April 22-24.  Click on the logo for more details.
