See how we celebrated 30 years

Over the last 30 years, 2,100 individuals have been given the opportunity to turn their lives around through rehab. Since 2010, well over 2,500 women and families have experienced life-changing support at our two Women’s Centres. That's something to celebrate. Thank you everyone for making this possible.

April - first aid training put to very good use

Clients at Nelson House put their Red Cross First Aid training to good use when they rescued an elderly neighbour.

May - Clay Shoot and Black Tie Dinner

The annual Clay Shoot and Black Tie Dinner at Berkeley Castle was our most successful fundraising event ever, enabling us to do even more for people struggling with addiction and trauma.
June - Hub Bistro in Gloucester opened its doors
Our Hub Bistro opened after a seven-month renovation. We’re now running our first social enterprise, supporting those in recovery with vital skills and qualifications for the workplace.

July - award for Swindon Centre

Just one year after opening, our Women’s Centre in Swindon came runner-up at the Howard League Community Awards. Sue Lee, Sex Worker Outreach Worker, and Lou Kuklinski of Wilts Police, have since been congratulated by a detective for putting a violent rapist behind bars.

July was busy, with a 30th birthday party

170 past clients joined us for our biggest reunion ever, followed by celebrations with friends and neighbours at a Fete and Family Fun Day.

September -  Royal visit

The Princess Royal met staff and clients at our Education, Training and Employment Centre: ‘I’ve been around for all those 30 years since you started. I’ve seen many centres like this come and go. I’m very impressed that The Nelson Trust has grown through that time and is now permanent.’

October - national conference in London

We were joined by policy-makers, professionals, supporters, academics and practitioners to share best practice and hear from the women we’ve helped through the years. Watch the films here.

November - another inspiring story of recovery

Emily Mason demonstrates the massive impact of our Women’s Centres on the lives of women in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

We've ended the year on a high with our annual Pantomime - this year, a twist on the classic Oliver Twist.

All year - Dave Wilmott has spoken tirelessly on TV, radio and in the press

Huge thanks to Dave Wilmott, Champion Kickboxer, who is calling on everyone this January to stand with him and give up alcohol for just one evening, donating their savings so that we support those struggling with addiction.
