The Day I Ran over a Dominus Power Cable with a Texas Truck
This season while looking through old photographs, I came across one of the Dominus. In the picture, I was driving over it with a Texas truck. I recall doing that after someone had asked me about our manufacturing quality.
Of course, you have to be a little creative to come up with a test like that. When Purist pioneered the first fluid cables (ask someone about "the Texas Water Cable" sometime), people thought I was a little crazy. Then, we were the first to use alloys, at least in audiophile grade cabling. Maybe driving a truck over a cable attests to that, I don't know. However, today, the Dominus line possesses one of the lowest resistances in the industry and our research has been proven time and time again. If companies today use fluid shielding, it's because one guy in Texas was the first to start the trend.
With the new, Luminist revision, the Dominus has lower capacitance, and better flexibility. It has a faster sound and greater dynamic range, as well as dimensionality. The Dominus is a multiple-award winning cable, one of those that's held the test of time. It's always taken advantage of some of the most advanced technology in the industry, which has kept it near the top of the line.
I went ahead and reran the truck test, just to be sure about the build quality.
Now if Janie would let me trim the Christmas tree with it, I'd be all set.
Happy holidays, everyone.

Founder, Purist Audio Design
PS I am told I have to put here that Purist is not responsible if you try this at home.
PPS The original vehicle was a Suburban, which as a truck frame. Just to be sure, I used a dually this time.

2015 in Review
2015 has been a great year here at Purist. Here's from our scrapbook!
AXPONA
AXPONA never fails to thrill with its packed intensity. From sun up to sundown, you are unpacking, setting up, and working to get things just right. We are pleased to have shown our products in three out of the five rooms listed as "Five Most Significant Exhibits" by Absolute Sound reviewer Greg Weaver, comes down to this dedication and the hard work of the manufacturers present.
Afterwards, the best part is when you get to meet the other audiophiles who come to AXPONA, or drop by and experience the music with you.
We were fortunate enough to win an Audio Oasis this year:
Doug Schroeder of Dagogo writes "...The sound quality was in the top five rooms I visited, bursting with power and grace. “Jazz Variants” performed by the O-zone Percussion Group, had everything tympanic in its proper place and all mallets striking with proper force."
Jim Hannon of The Absolute Sound was kind enough to add: "The [Neptune's] shielding helped produce a huge soundstage with explosive dynamics in a system with Atma-Sphere electronics and Classic Audio loudspeakers."
AXPONA Events!
What a packed show this year! Here are a few of the hilights...
We podcasted with Enjoy the Music:
Jim gave a presentation on our cable technology:
High End in Munich, Germany
What a crowd! We'll let the pictures do the talking...while we remember the great music, and the taste of German beer:
Newport Beach
Such beautiful rooms! Again, the scrapbook says it better:
AV Show in Ho Chi Minh
Gorgeous! While Kim and Jim were only there in spirit, we have pictures from this fantastic show, as well as the on-site performances:

Capital Audio Fest in D.C.
This was a great show, and we felt fortunate to attend. Rather than talking about ourselves, scroll down for some reviews by some truly great individuals.
Enjoy the Music's reviews of our Capital Audio Fest rooms really made our time here:
From our first room:
"From the extremely quiet noise floor, small details popped out, percussion from Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" came from deep in the soundstage yet seemed clear as a "bell". The power of the full orchestra was easily rendered, and dynamics handled with aplomb. The system expressed detail in a perfect way, not edgy or forward, but with ease and gave the listener a relaxed sense to just listen and have fun."
And our next room:
"I heard The Weekend's "Earned It" from the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack, exhibiting dynamics I didn't know the song had, huge soundstage, wide and very deep, and the vocals mesmerizing. Then I heard how sensational DSD can sound as Brian played some pieces from Channel Classics' catalog, WOW! Staggering dynamic swings, tons of detail, beautiful string tone, and a true sense of transparency usually reserved for RTR tapes and huge electrostatics."

Thank you everyone for making this the memorable event it was!
RMAF in Colorado!
We had a great time at RMAF this year!
In many ways, RMAF is like coming home. Before he founded Purist, Jim spent time in Colorado, the state where RMAF is hosted. During his stay, he would spend his days with the Air Force, guarding the missile silos. In his off hours, he studied mathematics and physics, skills he would later use when founding Purist Audio Design. It is a state with a lot of memories.
This year at RMAF, we connected the music in two rooms. The first was 2015 with Merging Technologies, German Physiks, Ayre Acoustics, and Star Sound Technologies. For this setup, we used our Corvus AC Power cords, and the Genesis XLRs. The sound was great, and we received a fine award from Audio Oasis.
David Robinson of PFO had this to say: "Featuring the NADAC, with Ayre Acoustics providing the downstream electronics, piped via Purist Audio to the German Physiks omnidirectional speakers, this combination produced music that was immersive and more holographic than usual in stereo rooms."
Greg Weaver of The Absolute Sound wrote: "...one of the most dynamically and harmonically correct presentations you’ll hear."
In the Lupine room, we were honored to connect you to the music with Atma-Sphere Music Systems, Classic Audio Loudspeakers, and Tri-Planar! He had some kind things to say about both the Lupine and 2015, and we're grateful to have a noted reviewer like Greg enjoying our cables.
Thank you for letting us connect you to the music this year!
More 2015 Hilights and Reviews
Thank you to everyone for your kind words this year. We look forward to seeing you in 2016, and continuing to raise the bar in quality sound!
"These audio cables from Purist Audio Design are not only a fascinating case study in engineering, I think they sound fantastic."
Scott Hull of Part-Time Audiophile
"The suite shared by Classic Audio, Atma-Sphere, and Purist Audio Design provided one of their best presentations in recent memory."
Greg Weaver of The Absolute Sound
Cable of the Year from Hi-Fi in Poland!
Thank you! There is a lot of love, and work, that goes into each cable, because we still make them the old-fashioned way. It is a thrill to see that recognized.
"This was the most engaging room of the entire event."
- Panagiotis Karavitis of Audio Traveler
"...excellent brightness and openness of sound and excellent resolution."
- Fullrange Audio Community
"Silk-like expressiveness."
"There were new details, producing an aura of openness...freedom and naturalness."
- Mariusz Malinowski of Hi-Fi i muzyka
"...a gorgeous system."
- Malachi Kenney of Audio Traveler
