Happy Christmas and New Year greetings from our newsletter
December 2015

In this newsletter: the end of an amazing year, and how we're creating remarkable facilities with our Welsh Government funding, a big thank you and goodbye to this year's groups, a great day with University of Wales Trinity St. David, and some yummy sausages

We'd like to start with a big thank you to all our groups from 2015! It's been an epic year.  There's much more to come in 2016, so keep in touch!

We've just said good bye to our most recent groups at our Big Lottery Funded 'Building Community' project, Port Talbot & Afan Women's Aid, Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board Brain Injury and Perthyn, but we'd like to take the opportunity to thank all of this year's groups for your super hard work and your thoughts to help us progress the project. We'll be seeing you all again soon for the celebration/open day on the 14th of January, 2016. If you want to see what people have achieved, please come along! Email kate@downtoearthproject.org.uk for more details.

Welsh Government funding progress

Just before Christmas shutdown we heard we had the approval for the full £491,000 from the Communities Facilities Programme, so we can carry on creating the most remarkable facilities for the most vulnerable groups.  The bore hole hit water, the barn is flying along and all the ground works are completed.  See photos below.  All of this funding has brought forwards completion date for the training centre to the end of March 2016!  Hold on tight, it's going to be a busy 2016!

What other people are saying!

"Participation in the project gave our clients a sense of purpose and self-belief. For our clients, increased confidence leads to them becoming more socially engaged."

Caer Las Project

"The project really benefits those at risk from social exclusion. It gives them a sense of friendship and comradery and is perhaps the first time they’ve ever experienced having a supportive group around them. It gives them a sense of self-worth and the staff are excellent at making each person on the project feel valued. They also help each individual identify within themselves skills and an ability which were unknown to them. This instils and reinforces a sense of pride, ability and achievement into individuals which them gives them the confidence to be more active in their communities."
