In the Know, December 2015

Hi <<First Name>>,

It's nearly Christmas! We've all been looking forward to a chance to put our feet up and unwind. Whilst this would be wonderful, we know that various local public services keep hard at work to maintain vital services: helping flooded out people, providing social care, financial advice, community support, care for adults and children, A&E, in-patient services, resolving burglaries, emptying bins, staffing Christmas markets, putting out fires, getting people to hospital...

If you are off then enjoy your well earned break over Christmas. To everyone working through it, hats off to you. We hope you get some much needed R&R too and we'll be thinking of you.

Seasonal best wishes from the iNetwork and iStandUK teams
Phil, Shelley, Cath, Ajike, Jill, Paul and Louis

NEWS

Happy Stat-mas!

We've checked the stats and found that there were 16,008 unique opens of our newsletters since 1 April! However we're always looking for ways to improve, so if you would like to see more or less of particular content or receive different content from us, then drop Louis a quick email titled "I want to see..."

Remember you can get specific newsletters additionally to these In the Know's by managing your newsletter preferences using the links at the bottom of this email.

Happy Site-mas!

We've redone the iNetwork website with help from Hack Oldham: see www.i-network.org.uk. Our web star Jill is still busy tidying it up so send her thoughts and feedback if you want to see something. It's on Wordpress.

We also want to move away from the KHub as it's not great. If you disagree let us know and if you know of a better, inexpensive Knowledge Management and online community system we could use please drop Jill a line.

Happy Asset-mas!

It's been said that it was a "make do and mend" Spending Review which will result in some parts of the sector hanging up their reform boots and instead reaching for the needle and thread. Our communities deserve better which is why we're going to be running some sessions in the new year which are all about community engagement. These will include how to run events, how to run unconferences and how to run hack days. We'll also be sharing ideas and good practice through a particular event in March. Dates will be up in Jan and we plan to repeat in different locations across our membership.

LGA Digital Transformation Fund

The LGA is inviting councils to bid for funding for projects to implement digital tools and approaches to complement the work that they are already doing to transform a ‘wicked' issue, including: Troubled Families, the integration of Health and Social Care, Welfare Reform and Public Health. Full details can be found here.

The deadline for bids into this programme is Monday 21st December 2015.
