Grandmas: Unsung Heroes
ARK supports 3,000 grandmas raising orphans in Africa by giving them a monthly allowance of $25 so they don't go to bed hungry.
We support the education of 1,200 secondary/high school orphans and 560 college students.
Unbelievable Resilience of a 97years old Grandma
At age 97, grandma Nakku is raising 13 grandchildren. To provide for her large family and pay school fees, Nakku sold part of her land. She says, my constant prayer is, “God, I cannot afford to die. If I do, who will raise these children? And God seems to have heard my prayer. In 2004 I ran out money and land to sell. My oldest granddaughter, Ruth, was 12years old. She learned about the ARK Foundation at a time when I could not find money to pay school fees”.
With ARK support, Ruth, now 23, is attending law school at Makerere University.
