Tribal GIS Transportation Route Center Line Data Model Now Open for Comments
On December 7, 2015 the NTGISC transportation workgroup opened the draft standardized route center line dataset for comments. The route center line dataset is at the center of an ongoing effort to develop a full tribal transportation ArcGIS data model over time.Recently, Mr. Garet Couch had the opportunity to discuss the draft data model with the Bureau of Indian Affairs Division of Transportation (DOT) team. Through this meeting we gained valuable insight to changes within the Road Inventory Field Data System (RIFDS) that will assist in making significant changes to the draft data model.
At this time, the NTGISC transportation workgroup is asking for tribal and BIA staff involved in transportation programs to review the draft data model documentation and geodatabase. The documentation and geodatabase is available for download from the members section of the Tribal GIS website under the transportation workgroup section. A designated forum titled, "Draft Transportation Data Model Feedback" has been created within the Tribal GIS website to gather comments.
The NTGISC transportation workgroup request that all comments be submitted by February 1, 2016. All submissions will be reviewed by the workgroup for inclusion in the final version of the data model. Log in today by visiting www.tribalgis.com.
