Law Degree and Sherpa Teacher Scholarships
Funded By Donors
BMKF is awarding several unique scholarships this year, including a Sherpa Teacher scholarship and two law degree scholarships funded by two BMKF donors.
Board director Om Prakesh Singh, an attorney, asked five law degree candidates questions related to the field, including their thoughts about the current situation in Terai, a politically volatile region of Nepal. The law degree scholarship winners will be announced later in December.
“All of the law candidates had good academic marks and spoke with confidence about their career choice. However, they are still waiting to learn the results of their law school entrance exams,” Sabita explained.
Education Committee Sponsors
Non-Traditional Student
BMKF’s education committee was so impressed with the caliber of candidates this year, they wanted to do more. They decided to personally sponsor an additional scholarship this year for Prabha Bohara.
“Prabha is a unique case. As a 32-year-old woman, she is what U.S. colleges refer to as a ‘nontraditional’ student -- older than the average undergrad,” said BMKF education committee chair Erin Inclán. “She survived an extremely difficult arranged marriage and she has worked hard for her education. In the future she would like to teach other nurses.”
We look forward to sharing more news and introducing the new BMKF scholars in 2016. Thank you so much for supporting these wonderful young women!
Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year!
