HOLIDAY SEASON

Festivus for the rest of us!

Each December 23rd, many people celebrate Festivus, a holiday featured in "The Strike" episode of Seinfeld, which first aired on December 18, 1997. This humorous holiday includes such traditions as an unadorned aluminum pole (in lieu of a Christmas tree), participation in the "Airing of Grievances" which is an opportunity to tell others how they've disappointed you this past year, followed by a Festivus dinner, and then completed by the "Feats of Strength" where the head of the household must be pinned (as in a wrestling match). In case you really want to get into this zany holiday, believe-it-or-not, there's even a how-to book available!

In a galaxy far, far away...

From lightsaber battles, to movie marathons, to elaborate costumes gracing theaters across the globe, Star Wars mania has hit big time. Everyone's thrilled to see the Skywalker clan return to the big screen! So, here's our little tribute to a movie that has certainly changed and influenced our worlds. Fun fact -- after watching the first Star Wars at age 7, I fell in love with the name Harrison (for Harrison Ford) and vowed to name my son that one day (which I did!).

Name of the week...

With Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve upon us, the spirit of the season inspired us to choose EVE as the name of the week! This biblical Hebrew name means "life" or "living," and is literally the oldest name in the book (think Adam and Eve). Eve is coming back in style these days giving the feel of simplicity, purity and strength.
