Welcome to MAGICapp

The new MAGICapp is here.

We are excited to let you know about some major new features in MAGICapp. Most of the work was focussed on improving the evidence summaries with more robust outcome forms that allow the entry of structured data that's connected all the way down to individual study data points.

This new version is the most comprehensive release of new features since we published our first guideline in MAGICapp back in November 2013.

Below are more details about the new features. As always, we'd love to get feedback from you and hear what you think so that we can further improve MAGICapp both for authors and end-users.

Best regards,
MAGIC team

New Features

More details: layered Summary of Finding (SoF) tables

We have restructured the summary of findings tables to be similar to the interactive Summary of finding format coming out of the DECIDE project. The SoF tables now have layers of information where authors can add detailed GRADE deliberations, descriptive texts, data and files from primary studies and systematic reviews. This layered information will also be available to readers.

More guidance: access help, explanations and text suggestions

We have added a lot of help and explanations throughout the platform. Both for authors and readers. We have added standard text options, guidance text and links to various online handbooks and references, including GRADE and Cochrane.

More transparency: specify which studies you have taken your estimates from

We let you import or manually add primary studies and systematic reviews and link them directly to the estimates of your outcomes. If you import systematic reviews containing data, we will extract the data so you do not have to manually copy-paste it. You import studies and systematic reviews once, and then you can reuse the data for as many outcomes as you would like. You can also attach files and images (forest plots) to your outcomes.

Many smaller changes to ease workflow and reading

Improved recommendation labels and menu, key information with both color-labels and text, more coherent layout of the PDF, expert-mode for frequent users, status-labels to track development and an overall faster platform
