As 2015 draws to a close, we are likely all looking back over the past 12 months, while anticipating the new year and wondering what it will bring. I have been deeply honored to serve WCCA this past year as your president. I sincerely hope I have done the office and the organization justice. And I also hope that I have succeeded (at least a little) in advancing our goals and bolstering our image. It has been a rather tumultuous year, but with everyone’s support, I feel we have managed to come out of the political fray in the best position we could under the circumstances we found ourselves in. Thanks to everyone, we have a foundation to build on as we move forward.

I’d especially like to thank those who served on the executive board over the past year. Steve Rannenberg has helped to keep us all on track over several years now as probably our longest serving President and Past President. I, as well as WCCA’s membership, owe him for his steadfast support and guidance. Steve is a rock in times of chaos, as well as a wealth of knowledge that I am extremely grateful I could count on during my years on the board.
Terry Ochs was superb as your Vice President and Program Chair putting together two excellent conferences with record attendance. Rod Eslinger did an excellent job as our legislative chair in (Click here for more)

Sarah Sauer is a Dane County Inspector. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Urban Geography , a minor in Architectural Design and a certificate in Urban Planning from UW-Milwaukee in 2012. Her professional background stems from positions with UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, the City of Brookfield and the City of New Berlin, focusing on sustainable development and water resource management.
Sarah enjoys playing and watching sports, working out, hiking, traveling, playing with her nieces and nephews, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and coaching youth sports. In college, she worked at the campus recreational facility in the intramural sports program and spent summers coaching youth and junior high sports programs. She was a senior high leader for a Christian program, Young Life, throughout high school and into her junior year of college. She hopes to continue with mentoring and coaching high school sports in the future.
Sarah grew up in Mt.Horeb where her parents still reside. She married her husband, Mark, in 2014 She has one older sister, Hope (with Sarah in picture above). Hope and her husband, JR, also live in Madison and have four children.
And finally, something we would never guess about Sarah? She was the runner up in the 7th grade spelling bee! Good job Sarah! Welcome to WCCA!

Dane County Planning and Development
Dane County is home to more than 500,000 residents, Wisconsin's State Capitol, the University of Wisconsin and Madison College, more than 60 cities, villages and towns and some of the most productive farms in the state and the nation! Dane County has a vast array of natural spaces, as well. There are 33 lakes and diverse rivers, streams and parks which make abundant opportunities for relaxation. Dane County is home to one of the few free zoos in the country. In addition, they have an airport that connects businesses and citizens to the world and is home to the 115th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard.
What to do when stopping by Dane County? Dan suggests visiting the UW Campus, State Capitol or historic down Stoughton - where they celebrate their Norwegian heritage on the weekend closest to May 17 - Syttende Mai.
The Dane County Planning and Development Department includes 24 employees in three divisions - Planning, Records and Support and Zoning and Plat Review. They administer 14 programs in the county. A Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance was first adopted in 1938 in Dane County and all townships adopted the county ordinance.
