Free Learning Series, “Little Kids, Big World,” Featured at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum

BISMARCK - Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to a free interactive learning series, “Little Kids, Big World,” on Mondays at 10:30 a.m at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. These fun, hands-on 30-minute programs will introduce children to North Dakota’s fascinating history—from dinosaurs through today’s ongoing story.

The programs will be led by Stephanie Schick, a gallery guide at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. Schick is a graduate of Northern Arizona University who previously worked as an educator at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa.  Schick, who has a passion for history, science, and education, loves to travel and has taught in schools in Kenya and Egypt.

The series begins on Jan. 18, with "Dinosaur Discovery". What did dinosaurs feel like? Did they sound like they do in the movies? Participants will learn the answers to these questions and more. Additional upcoming programs in the series include "Place the Waste" on Jan. 25, "Little Archaeologists" on Feb. 8, "Fantastic Fossils" on Feb. 15, "Homesteader House" on Feb. 22, "Fur Trade Fun" on Feb. 29, "Little Paleontologist" on March 7, "Sacred Bison" on March 14, and "Working Wind" on March 21.

Participants are asked to meet at the east entrance information desk at the ND Heritage Center and State Museum. For more information, contact Erik Holland, 701.328.2792. For more programs sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, go to history.nd.gov.
