Happy New

Year!

Winter 2016 Newsletter

Dear Partner:

Welcome to 2016!
Happy New Year and thank you to all our volunteers, financial partners, and intercessors.  We greatly appreciate your partnership in bringing salvation, healing, freedom, discipleship, food, and clothing to those in need in Kitchener and surrounding areas.  We look forward to another year of God's favour on Fountain of Hope.

"If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up?" Genesis 4:7 (NASB)

As I was reading through the story of Cain and Abel recently, this verse stood out to me in a way I had not seen before. In Sozo ministry and in Healing Room prayer we have the privilege of seeing people's countenance change or be lifted up. What starts as a sad, burdened look often turns to a joyful smile, a laugh, and twinkling eyes.  The change is profound because the God of the Universe presences Himself with us and we are freed, unburdened during prayer. I started to wonder what it means to do well.

Micah 6:8 says,
"He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?"

As we start a new year, I encourage you to meditate on these words of God and to check your countenance often.  R.T.

TriCities Baseball Team Clothing and Food Drive
Wanting to give back to the community, F of H was the recipient of bags and bags of winter coats and cold weather items from a clothing drive done by The Giants.  This is the second year they have blessed us with an abundance of clothing items to give away.  They also held a food drive this year.  Thank you for your generous support of F of H.

Our November Clothing Give-Away saw 90 people come into F of H with 2 people coming to accept Jesus as Saviour and 1 person recommitting their life to Jesus.
Praise the Lord!  (see picture at bottom of newsletter)
Why We Love Sozo ..
by Bill Thiessen
Governing Principles is a term we use to explain what we do.  Think about your driving habits.  When I drive along the 400 series highways, I know full well the posted speed limit is 100 km/h but I drive about 120 km/h because I believe that as long as I stay on or below 120 km/h I am not going to get a ticket.  This belief is a bigger factor in governing my driving behaviour than the posted speed limit. Consequently, it doesn’t matter whether what I believe is true or not, it governs my behaviour just the same. However, most governing principles don’t exist in our minds in that cognitive place where we can think about them and describe them. Most governing principles exist in our subconscious.  As a result, we may find ourselves doing things that are inconsistent with what we know to be true without really understanding why. As an example, I may know that love is patient and kind, but I may not know why I just lost my temper? Let’s look at a hypothetical situation. A young child, let’s name her Lucy, is in the store and sees all the candy bars laid out at the checkout.  Lucy asks her Mom for a chocolate bar and her Mom says, “Oh, not now. Maybe another time.”  Lucy was promised a chocolate bar once before and it didn’t happen that time either. Being upset, Lucy may begin to lose control of her emotions.  As her Mom gets embarrassed, she decides it is easier to get Lucy the chocolate bar than to have a tantrum in the store.  If this happens over and over, the enemy speaks a lie to Lucy and says, “Your needs will not be met unless you kick up a fuss.”  Proven time and again, Lucy ends up believing the lie that her needs will not be met unless she takes a tantrum.  This may become a governing principle for the rest of her life…but it doesn’t need to. This is why we love SOZO. People come to the cross of Jesus where they change their citizenship from darkness to light but they don’t necessarily change their governing principles.  They still live motivated out of jealousy, shame, pride, etc.  All of these things have nothing to do with the kingdom of God. Another example is from the story of Mary and Martha.  Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and Martha was rebuked.  Martha was not rebuked for hosting well or for keeping busy or for looking after the details.  She was rebuked because she was “worried about many things.”  Worry was driving her.  Worry has nothing to do with the kingdom of God. Jesus would rather we exchange our old governing principles for a set that are completely in line with the kingdom of God. During a sozo session we give the lies we believe about God or about ourselves to the cross and we ask for an exchange. It is amazing the exchanges of love, peace, and joy that God gives.  This changes our governing principles to those of the kingdom of God.  We welcome you to book a sozo appointment at 519-569-9180.  It will change your life.

Did You Know ...?
"A man walked 3 kms to the Healing Room in October to get some food.  He renewed his faith and accepted Jesus.  Volunteers prayed for a lump on his eye and the swelling went down visible in their presence. He went out smiling and happy."  K.D.

Testimonies
"I was prayed for regarding Plantar Fasciitis in my left heal.  It was extremely painful and I had problems walking on it.  Bill saw a clothes line of new feet and gave me a pair.  I praised God every day for my new feet and since then the pain has been almost non existent.  On occasion it may flair up but when telling it to go in the name Jesus it disappears."  K.D.

"Break through, a life changing experience. Truly met and experienced the Father's, Jesus', Holy spirit's love. I feel such a lightness and joy.  I feel a ray of sunshine, unspeakable joy."  R.T.

"As a volunteer in the Healing Rooms it is great.   Just to see the changes in the countenances  of people when God brings healing into their life and watching them go out with a smile on their faces. One person came in very depressed and after prayer walked out knowing she can move on with God's strength. Many have come to know the Lord." K.D.
