Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,
In the classical sense, as the front or visible side of a building, it is the metaphorical epitome of the superficial. But also in its modern sense, as a building’s mere shell, it remains an integral part of a structure’s outer appearance: the façade. It is, so to speak, a house’s clothes, and clothes, as is well known, make the man.
For our first newsletter in 2016, we have chosen six projects for you whose façades can unhesitatingly be called “haut couture” – to stick to the clothes metaphor. In some you might witness “deceptive signs”, look through holes in the timber or admire grooves over grooves. Others seem to be shaped by the wind or might even offer several façades at a time. And even handmade and –dyed tiles ultimately add up to a most appealing appearance.
Enjoy these wonderful “clothes for houses”, but do not hesitate to take look behind the façade as well.
