God at Work
Prayer
We are moving forward in this journey under the banner of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA), a wonderful organization with a great history of sending missionaries out into this world. One of the core values of the CMA is "Prayer is the Primary Work of the People". This was very evident this past week as we received a note from the pastor of a small CMA church in the South:
"Greetings; was encouraged by your faith and obedience to the call of Christ on your life. I am the pastor of a small C&MA congregation in ...... Every week we choose one missionary or couple as the focus of our prayers all week. This Sunday in our service I will be sharing your story and we will be praying for you all week. Please keep us informed of your progress and your prayer needs and I'll pass it on to our prayer ministry. May the Lord Bless you both and greatly increase your ministry! Love In Christ."
Other than both parties being a part of the CMA, we have no connection to this church whatsoever. How encouraging to know that people we do not even know are supporting us through prayer. We are blessed to be a part of the CMA family. Praise God for the people of the CMA and churches like this who make "Prayer the primary work of the people.”
Provision
We received wonderful news a few weeks ago related to our housing at Bongolo. The administrator of the hospital was meeting with key government officials and was notified that they had set aside funds to build housing for the “new doctor” coming to Bongolo. The funds have already been transferred to the builder and they look to start construction in 4-6 months. Praise God for His provision.
People
We are thankful for the time God has given us as we prepare to go overseas. While things are progressing, we still were able to spend one more Christmas here in the states, and enjoyed extended time with our children, as well as both sides of our families. This year, the time was extra special as we look ahead to leaving this summer and know there will be holidays when we are not able to be with family.
Partners
Now that the busy holiday season is behind us, we are in the process of building partnerships and scheduling times to speak to different groups and churches about our story and how God is calling us to Bongolo. We will be speaking to some physician groups in the Dayton area during the month of January, and plan to share at some churches in Ohio and Indiana in the next few months. If you are interested in hearing more about our story or have a group that may be interested, just let us know! We would love to share our story with you.
