Hunting Island State Park

Beaufort, South Carolina

Photo of Hunting Island Light House
When we lived up North; we went for a walk in Tuckahoe State Park on New Years Day.  It was usually cold with snow on the ground.  Now we live in the South and take a walk on the Beach at Hunting Island to bring in the New Year.

On New Years Day I captured this photo of two horse back riders heading toward the lighthouse.  It was a great day for reflecting on the past year and planning new adventures in the new year.

If you are living in the Northern cold, consider heading down South to Beaufort for a change in the weather and scenery.

Hunting Island State Park is the home of a historic lighthouse, a nature center and numerous bike and walking trails. If you like camping, there is a site for RV's and tents, a fishing pier, a boat landing, and one of our favorite beaches in the world.  It's a great time to take a break from the bitter Northern cold and Hunting Island is only about 20 minutes outside of the town of Beaufort.

Abby Glassenberg's

Video Tutorial- How to Insert Safety Eyes

How to Use Safety Eyes
Abby Glassenberg Video Tutorial How to Insert Safety Eyes
"How do I install the safety eyes?"    This is a frequently asked question by our customers.  You can find many YouTube Videos; but my personal favorite is the one posted above.

Abby writes a blog about designing and sewing stuffed animals and running a creative business.  Her website, While She Naps, is packed with sewing patterns, sewing tutorials, e-books, her free podcasts, and the nuts and bolts of running a small business.

While She Naps is a must have resource if you sew, write, have a small business, or think you might like to start one.

Exchanging Fire Etsy Shop

Specializing in Crochet & Knitting Supplies

If you have read My Blog, you know that I crochet.  Crocheting is a way for me to relax and at the same time focus and express my creativity.   I love these stitch markers and digital row counters that I purchased for myself and my daughter from Sarah's Etsy Shop.   These tools are a must have for keeping track of where I am in my crochet projects.  They will also make great gifts this year for my crochet friends along with some yarn and a free crochet pattern.

This Month New Days to Celebrate and Observe in the New Year
As many people do in the New Year, I've been evaluating the last year and making my plans for next year.   I happened upon the website Holiday Insights.
I recommend you check it out for a fun way to plan some creative activities for yourself, family and friends.
You can choose the days you want to observe and plan your activities.   I selected some of my personal favorite days to observe in January and began planning.
Below are my personal favorite 7 days to celebrate.  Stay tuned because you might see some photos and stories about our celebrations this month in my blog.

Saturday, January 9, 2016  Play God Day
This is my day to do something good for someone else.  It does not have to be anything big or cost a lot of money.  I'm planning to assist with alter care and flowers at our local church.  If you are interested in observing Play God Day, some suggestions include:
  • visiting someone that is sick or elderly.
  • giving time to a local community organization or church.
  • making something and giving it to someone in need.
  • buying  two of everything you need at the grocery store and donating one to the local food bank.
  • organizing a family community service project.
Monday, January 18, 2016 is Winnie the Pooh Day
Birthday of  the author, AA Milne.  I read the Winnie the Pooh books to my children and we saw the movies together.  I have also enjoyed reading the Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff.  I'd like to to have an impromptu birthday party to celebrate Pooh's Day with friends.  We can never be too old to celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day!

Tuesday, January 19, 2016  is National Popcorn Day
I have to celebrate this because Popcorn with butter and salt is my favorite snack.  My New Year resolution was to treat myself to popcorn AFTER  I lose 10 pounds.  I have a conflict of interest here so I am not sure what I will do on National Popcorn Day.

Tuesday, January 21, 2016 is National Hugging Day
I read somewhere that you need 5 hugs a day for good mental health.  I definitely want to celebrate this day by getting in those 5 hugs and making some Hug cards to send out to my long distance friends.

Thursday, January 26, 2016  is National Spouses Day
This is a time I can set aside to enjoy and appreciate Jerry by planning some fun activities we can do together on this day.

Sunday, January 31, 2016 is National Inspire Your Heart With Art Day
There are so many ways to celebrate art.  I could view it, purchase it, create it.
I'm planning a visit to an art or craft show.

These are my 7 picks to celebrate and observe in January of the New Year.
I Wish You All a New Year filled with Joy and Creativity!
