Library Friends

Check out the Friends Second Saturday Sales coming up on January 9 and February 13! These sales are offered each month from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The first hour is open to members only. Not a Friends member? Memberships  are very affordable and available on our website, at the door on the day of the sale or pick up a membership form at the Welcome Desk the next time you visit the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Did you know the Library has a Facebook page?  Before the year ended we added about 300 "likes" to our page during our campaign to exceed 1,000 before the end of 2015.  As of the writing of this newsletter, 1,043 people DO know about our Facebook page and are connected to it.  By "liking" the Library's Facebook page, you will get reminders about concerts, story times, book sales, and more.  By commenting on our posts, you can let us know your thoughts too, whether there's a program you'd like to see or a book you want to recommend.  Add another "like" to our page today!  

Adult Services

Bookbinding for Beginners
Laura Beyer from Wax Wing Press will be here on Saturday, February 6 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to teach adults and teens how to make a basic blank book at this hands-on workshop. Registration is required and open to Bloomfield Township residents only.
 
Academy Award-Nominated Film Festival
February 19-21
If you didn’t have a chance to see some of the Academy Award Nominated Films, this is your chance to catch up.  We will be showing nominated films at various intervals over these three days, including some of the films nominated for the Best Picture award.  A full schedule will be released closer to the event.  Both Youth and Adult titles will be shown as part of the event.  Enter drawings throughout the festival to win movie tickets to local theaters.
 
Ongoing programs, such as writers’ groups, our Knit ‘n Stitch Circle and Coffee and Conversation for seniors are offered every month. We have a new monthly program for ESL students- The English Conversation Language Hour! For a complete program schedule and more information, visit our website.

Youth Services

Winter Carnival
Come one, come all to our first-ever Winter Carnival to be held on Monday, February 15!  Step right up for a fun-filled time featuring traditional carnival games, treats and entertainment.  The carnival will be open from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and again from 4 - 5:30 p.m. All ages welcome.  Registration is not required.
 
Family Fort Night
On Friday, February 26 from 6:30 – 8 p.m., bring the whole family for some after-hours fun!  You provide the blankets and sheets to create your own family fort, and we’ll provide the space and countless books to read.  Stories, s’mores and more. Registration is not required. 
 
The Youth Services Department offers many fun drop-in programs every month – LEGO Club, PJ Theater, and Wee Play. Click here for a complete program schedule and for more information.

Computers

The Library continues to offer a variety of hands-on computer classes, such as Introduction to Power Point and Introduction to Scanning & Photo Editing.
