This practice memo briefly describes the steps involved in a job search, such as the interview process, tips on finding the right practice fit, as well as contract expectations and the preparation needed to be credentialed after you have secured a job."







Now Accepting Abstracts for the 2016 Vascular Annual Meeting
The Society for Vascular Surgery is now accepting abstract submissions for the 2016 Vascular Annual Meeting.  The deadline is 3 p.m. CST, Feb. 1, 2016.  

The 2016 Vascular Annual Meeting will be held June 8-11, 2016 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, located just outside Washington, D.C. 

New This Year: All authors will need to complete a conflict of interest statement before an abstract can be submitted. Submitting authors will need to authorize the recording of content, in addition to supplying co-author institutional and contact information at the time of account creation.



Upcoming Course from Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center
The Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center is hosting "Cardiovascular Fellows’ Finishing School" on May 20-22, 2016.  

The course "aims to provide graduating cardiology fellows and vascular fellows/integrated residents an opportunity to hone their skills in advanced heart and vascular techniques.

Additionally, discussions will provide trainees with practical tips as they enter their practices which include topics such as billing/coding, quality, legal implications, setting up an interventional lab, managing complications and contract negotiations."



Women in Surgery Career Symposium

The 7th Annual Women in Surgery (WIS) Career Symposium will be held February 26-28 in Orlando, FL.  

The annual WIS career symposium serves as a forum to discuss the issues and challenges confronting women as they seek to advance in a changing but still male-dominated field and to share successes and advice for breaking the glass ceiling in Surgery. 

This professional and academic event promotes both personal and professional growth and is designed to foster mentorship as well as a peer network. The event provides a forum to discuss contemporary issues and opportunities for women who have chosen or may choose a career in surgery.












January Journal of Vascular Surgery 
This month, JVS subscriptions begin for all first year residents and fellows.  

While incoming fellows' subscriptions do not begin until January 2017, the January edition of JVS is available for free to the publicthis month.

December Issue of Vascular Specialist
The December edition of Vascular Specialist is now available online.

The issue addresses "Best treatments for great saphenous reflux," reports on resident reaction times on post-call days, debates of whether basillic vein transposition should be one- or two-stage, and a surgical tip from Dr. Samson in the "Tips and Tricks" feature.
