It's been a while since the last issue, and I know there are new followers reading for the first time today - welcome! Thank you all for checking in with The Scrap Basket. It's been enjoyable getting back into the routine of gathering things I think you'll enjoy. This issue is jam-packed, so let's get to it!

WHAT'S UP

New to me is the fact that I've joined the 2016 Finish-A-Long global hosting team. That sounds official, right? If you're unfamiliar with the FAL, check out this post. Basically it's a no-obligation, no-incrimination group of crafters who want to finish up works in progress. There's still time to make a list of your projects and join in!

WORTH A READ

ROUND-UP

This round-up is a little different in that rather than highlight one kind of quilt or technique, it's a variety of items that I just plain love. All of them gave me a wow moment when I saw them pop up in my Instagram or Bloglovin' feed.
I'm a sucker for Raspberry Kiss Blocks, tutorial by Rachel/wooden spoon quilts, and I was smitten with the pillow I saw on Pamela/[sewmama123]'s Instagram feed. Actually it was made by Melanie/[crandons]. One of my favorite palettes and patterns for sure.

When I saw Nicole/Mama Love Quilts' coordinating quilt and matching pajamas made for her young daughters, I could hardly believe it. Sweet! I bet her girls were comfy cozy on Christmas. [mamalovequilts]
We use alot of cloth napkins at our house, so Daryl/Fabric Spark's striking napkins jumped out at me. She used the Self Binding Napkin Tutorial by Patchwork Posse. Isn't Daryl's choice of fabric the best? [fabricspark[patchwork_posse]

I was so intrigued when Michelle/Factotum of Arts started posting her Fabric Art Blocks, and was tickled that she wrote up a tutorial. I'd really like to try my hand at these! [ml_wilkie]

ON TREND

Almost every quilter I know does more than quilt. It may be knitting or crochet, sewing garments, you name it. Something trending lately is rope bowls.

The variety possible is amazing. Here Heather/Winding Bobbins used various blue threads and finished hers off with a spiral. [windingbobbins]
I fell in love with this solid yellow bowl by Trinia/Penguin Feats in which she dyed her rope with turmeric before sewing. How cool is that? [penguinfeats]

This lovely bowl by Samantha/Petunia Blossom is fabric-wrapped, and I love its low shallow shape. Note the sweet finish with contrasting thread. [petuniablossom2]
Here's a fun one! When I contacted Julie/Julie Hirt Quilts about sharing her bowl, I asked if she'd followed a tutorial. Her response? "No. I'd be happy to make a tutorial though." Serious? Oh yeah. Check out Julie's Rope Bowl Tutorial - it has oodles of tips and variations and makes it all seem so very doable. [juliehirt]

IN-STUDIO

I loved seeing the Selvage Ironing Board Cover that Michelle/Factotum of Arts made! Another cool pressing solution is Katie/Sew Katie Did's DIY Quilter's Ironing/Pressing Station. And Amy/Amy's Creative Side shared her tips on Sewing Room Efficiency: Making the most of the time you have in your sewing room.

YOU ASKED . . .

I need your help! I've been asked to do a blog post on quilt math, and I know many of you already have some great stuff written. So I'm planning a round-up! If you have a quilt math post or series you'd like me to include, or one you refer to often, email me aquilterstable@gmail.com. Thanks!

P.S. Can't say my results were worth boasting about, but it was enlightening taking Abby/while she naps' 2015 Online Sewing and Craft World Quiz. It's obvious I basically concentrate my efforts in one area of that world . . .
