The preliminary design of Quai des Charbonnages has been approved. It marks the end of a thrilling phase during which we reinforced the efficiency and singularity of the structural and functional diagram proposed during the competition. We particularly enjoyed discovering the ambition of the Brussels Boxing Academy, which develops social insertion through boxing classes.

CADAVRE EXQUIS

Wijnegem, along the Albert Canal

Project developer VERVOORDT r.e. has selected a team of top designers - including BOGDAN & VAN BROECK, Coussée & Goris, Michel Desvigne, Stéphane Beel and Jens Aerts - to redevelop an old maltery into a dynamic environment which offers a combination of living, working, culture and nature.
Our contribution to this ambitious masterplan is now built and delivered.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Urbanity is a radical plea for a different land-use, that is beneficiary for all of us individually, but also for our community as a whole, the authorities, the institutions, the private sector and the environment!

Excessive land-use is, alongside overpopulation, the fundamental cause of the world's environmental issues. Densification and spatial reorganisation could however ensure the largest and most profitable real estate operation of the next few decades, advantageous for everyone.

In 2016, the office will continue to engage in this social debate by participating in lectures, debates, juries and experts committees in educational, political or corporate events for various structures.

We are a research-oriented design practice strategically based in Brussels, actively involved in society and in the public debate, and ecologically inclined towards urban renewal and densification.

Our portfolio covers architecture, urban design and service design assignments, consultancies, a wide array of programmes (housing, schools, offices, public and cultural buildings) and scales (from furniture design to regional development).
