Happy New Year!

December marked a full year since Mountain Creative Arts Counseling opened its doors. I am so incredibly grateful to be doing this work.

Our winter workshop series will begin in January, and we have several exciting events planned to spark your creativity and combat those dreary winter days. Participants can pre-register through my website at http://www.mountaincreativearts.com/workshops.

Coloring Night

Coloring is a relaxing activity, even for adults. Come out and treat yourself to some free time to color, eat snacks, listen to music, and socialize. Join other creatively minded community members, bring your friends, date, or group members for a unique evening inspired by the new trend of adult coloring. A blank sheet of paper can be daunting, but a coloring book has the outlines already there, making it easier to pick up a pencil and begin making your mark. All materials (coloring pages, colored pencils, etc.) are provided, and no prior art experience is needed.

Winter Dates: 6pm-8pm

1/8/16

2/5/16

3/4/16

Cost: $25 per person and includes coloring pages, all coloring supplies, tea, and dessert.

Saturday Workshop Series

These Saturday workshops are designed to inspire creativity. You will learn new techniques and complete a project in a safe, supportive environment.

January: Vision Boards

Date: 1/16/16
Time: 11am-4pm (We will have a one hour break for lunch)
Description: What do you want in 2016? A vision board can help you get it. A vision board is a physical representations of your goals, hopes, and dreams for your future, and can be a powerful tool for transformation. It is a collage of pictures, phrases, poems and quotes that visually represent what you would like to experience more of in your life. We will begin the morning with a gratitude exercise to identify priorities and current strengths. Then, using techniques from Danielle Laporte’s “Desire Map” and Elle Luna’s “The Crossroads of Should and Must,” we will identify our goals and vision for the New Year. Finally, we will collage images and text to create a unified picture of our vision for the future. Afterall, dreams come true faster when you visualize them.
Cost: $30

February: Visual Journaling for Beginners (2/6/16)

March: Mixed Media Affirmation Paintings (3/12/16)

Book Club

It’s a new year! Discover your true calling, and eliminate the blocks preventing you from living your authentic life. This January, we will be diving into the life-changing essay, “The Crossroads of Should and Must,” by Elle Luna.

This facilitated group will follow the outline of the book over the course of four weeks, and will involve discussion, experiential activities, and homework to prompt new awareness and further personal growth.

1/13/16: The Crossroads & The Origin of Should

1/20/16: Must I

1/27/16: Must II

2/3/15: The Return

Groups are held from 10:30am to 12:30pm

From the Book Description: Who hasn’t asked the question “How can I find and follow my true calling?” Elle Luna frames this moment as “standing at the crossroads of Should and Must.” “Should” is what we feel we ought to be doing, or what is expected of us. “Must” is the thing we dream of doing, our heart’s desire. The Crossroads of Should and Must has a universal message—we get to choose the path between Should and Must. And it gives every reader permission to embrace this message. It’s about the difference between jobs, careers, and callings. The difference between going to work and becoming one with your work. It talks about the most common fears of choosing Must over Should—money, time, space, and the ultimate fear: total vulnerability—and shores up our hesitation with inspiring stories of and quotes from the artists and writers and thinkers who’ve faced their own crossroads of Should and Must and taken the leap. The Crossroads of Should and Must guides us from the small moment, discovering our Must, to the big moment—actually doing something about it, and returning to share our new gifts with the world.

Cost for the four-week series is $85, and includes a copy of the book.
