Monday, January 4 - 6:30pm Climbing 101
Take yourself to new heights and learn the ropes through hands on experience in our Climbing Cave.  Learn the basics of bouldering, top roping and what you need to know to get started in this invigorating sport from our very own expert climber Carolyn Hansen.  All equipment provided.  Wear comfortable clothing!  Required:  All climbers must have a completed liability waiver on file at Midwest Mountaineering.  Liability waivers expire at the end of the calendar year and must be re-submitted every year. Tuesday, January 5 - 6:30pm Climbing Overuse Injury Prevention with Catherine Braden, DPT
Recognize the recent growth of climbing especially indoor climbing, and how this impacts climbing injury.  Develop an awareness of the most common overuse climbing injuries and strategies for prevention. Catherine graduated from the University of Minnesota and practices physical therapy at the Institute for Athletic Medicine University Village clinic.  Some of her clinical interests include general orthopedic injury management and prevention, triathlon medicine, and climbing medicine.  Expedition Room, Midwest Mountaineering

Free Yoga – every Saturday morning. Iyengar Yoga, named after the late B.K.S. Iyengar, is Hatha Yoga with the aid of many props and attention to detail.  It is a slower-paced class that focuses on alignment within the poses which creates stability in the joints while strengthening the muscles.  This method helps to cure and prevent injuries, allowing it to be accessible to all despite age or physical limitation.  Shannyn Joy Potter is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor, one of only twenty in the state of Minnesota. Sunday, January 10 - 10:00am – 12:15pm Skate Skiing Lesson 
Learn the basics or polish your skills with Midwest Mountaineering's Brian Bahn.  Equipment, clothing, where to ski, skate (freestyle) ski technique will be covered.  30 minutes indoors, then 1.5 hours on snow. Cross country skiing is a wonderful sport.  The application of kick and glide wax and simple maintenance of your equipment only enhances the enjoyment. Tuesday, January 19 - 6:30pm Skijoring
With Kevin Murphy  Skijoring is a winter sport that partners a cross country skier with a dog in harness as a pastime to embrace and enjoy winter.  Skijoring is fun for you and your dog. Learn about the history of this wonderful sport, how to get started, what equipment is most suitable for you and your dog, and what dog doesn't love skijoring?  (hint, almost all!) Skijoring can be as easy as going for a walk with your dog or as exhilarating as flying down the trail at 20mph.  A well trained dog is essential to getting started.  Additional training gives you the control needed when you get on snow. Thursday, January 21 - 6:30pm Reaching your Full Potential 
People are greatly influenced by both the negative and positive around them that can either put an inappropriately small vision on an individual’s potential or enhance a person’s capabilities well beyond what most believe is humanly possible.  Karen shares her story to offer insight on how a gigantic, intimidating goal can be reached, how you can make a positive impact on others, and encourages you to reach further and higher than you thought possible.  Get ready for an action-packed and motivational evening!  Karen Amundson will share her insight of what it took to plan and complete a 270 mile, 27 day solo trek from Canada to Duluth, Minnesota on the Superior Hiking Trail.  She will share some of her most memorable stories and life lessons.  Her experiences can be applied to every aspect of everyday life from work projects to relationships, fitness and personal goals.  Expedition Room, Midwest Mountaineering

Wednesday, January 27 - 6:30pm Hula Hoop design and Flow Clinic
Interested in the art of Hoop dancing?  Ready for a great workout?  Or do you want to have an indoor activity for the cold winter months?  Well, come create and design your own hula hoop in this clinic.  Not only do you get to take your own hula hoop home, but you will learn some hooping tricks and practice moving those hips. Our instructor, Maya Oldham, has been Hooping for nearly 8 years.  She has performed across the country at many festivals and events and taught multiple workshops in the art of hooping.  Cost of this clinic is $10.00 per hoop to cover materials.  Pre-Registration Required:  Limited to 15 participants.
