Remembering Johnny Mike

In 2015 we lost one of the most important studio designers in the Atlanta community.  Johnny Mike played an integral role in designing and constructing major Atlanta studios such as: Stankonia, Zac, 11th Street, Triangle Sound/Redzone, and Blue Room to name a few.  He was a masterful craftsman and carpenter.  He was honest and always steered us in the right direction.  Blue Room wouldn't be what it is now without Johnny Mike's guidance and expertiese.  We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Johnny Mike and we are proud to be a part of his strong legacy.

Blue Room West recap 2015

What an amazing year of growth it has been at Blue Room West!  From our new argosy desk, new apogee symphony rig, new iso room, and new UAD plugins.  Some of the artists we've worked with include:  Jeremih, Jeezy, Nas, Lykke Li, Chantal Kreviazuk, Cinco, Aloe Blacc, Fran Hall, Cash Out, B Howard, KJ, Monday Justice, Cory, Joey, Saint Zoey, and so many more!

Owner/head engineer James Kang also worked on Future and Drakes album (missing credit), has been working a lot with hip-hop legend Nas, and mixing for a wide variety of artists all over the world.  He's also been in the studio with Mike Will, Danjahandz, and Jeremih among others.  For Mixing with James email theblueroomwest@gmail.com.  James still mixes for several of our Blue Room South artists as well.  Bill has also done guitar work for Wale's "album about nothing" in 2015.

Assistant Zach Milo has been helping out on sessions throughout the year.

In 2016 we hope to further establish ourselves in the LA scene and continue to expand our facility and studio.  We will be back up and running on the west coast Jan 2, 2015 gearing up for our busiest time of the year,  Grammy time.

Blue Room South

2015 we've had:  Jeezy, Big Krit, Mike Will, Wale, Ca$h Out, Lucci, Cinco, Solo Lucci, Monica, Sonny Digital, Que, B.O.B., Tracy T, Childish Gambino, Two-9, Retro Sushi, Kelly Price, Bobby V, Zaytoven, Carnival Cuise Lines, and so many more..

Upgrades include a new 1073eq for our main room, new Bryston 10b sub crossover, new UAD plugins and quad core card, stands, mics, etc.   In 2016 we will be adding a new sub system to our Augspurgers!  We've been continually tuning our speaker system 2-3 times a year with Tony Terrebonne, who's ear and tuning skills have made our room one of the top sounding rooms in the city.

New studio manager:  Natalie D'Orlando has taken over as studio manager due to Micah's increased work load engineering and mixing. Natalie will be in charge of all scheduling and day to day operations.  Natalie has been interning for producer K Wills over the past few years and she just completed her bachelors degree from Art Institute of Atlanta.  Natalie is a talented engineer/songwriter as well.  She knows the studio in and out and most of you all already know her.

Engineers Keith Dawson, Micah Wyatt, Travis Louis, and Natalie have all had huge years.

Keith Dawson has mixed for a wide variety of artists all around the world as well as helping record on Jeezy's new project, and recording and mixing for artists such as:  Cash Out, YFN Lucci, Cinco, Ryan Leslie, Bobby V, Tracy T, Dj Infamous, Childish Gambino, and many  more.

Micah Wyatt recorded the majority of Jeezy's new Church in these Streets Album at Blue Room South as well as the majority of Big Krit's latest mixtape "It's Better This Way."  Micah has also been in with a variety of exciting artists such as:  Sonny Digital, Two-9, Zip K, Cash Out, Ant Man, and Cinco among others.

K Wills has done some major upgrades to the B room with new clouds, a new desk, and new UAD plugins.  Kevin has also been hard at work writing and producing for a wide variety of acts such as Dr Dre's artist John Connor and indie artist Barz.

Travis Louis has taken huge steps developing his skills this year. He is an engineer to watch in 2016 as his work load at the studio will increase.  Travis has been a central part of our studio for a few years assisting with sessions, learning, and helping us in anyway possible.  His engineering skills have really taken off and he is one of the hardest workers around the studio.  He's been recording a wide variety of artists in 2015.

We will reopen our studio Jan 3, 2016!   Happy New Year to everyone!!  If you want to lock in a spot early please email info@theblueroomrecording.com as we won't be on the phones until after the New Year.
