Message from the Board...
     I am hopeful that the holiday season was full of heart-warming and special moments spent with family and friends, and that 2016 brings only good cheer and health to all of our supporters!  
      In December we received a note from one of our validators expressing her thankfulness for GBW, and since we cannot better express why GBW does its work and share our gratefulness to you for your ongoing support, I am reprinting the note and our reply below. We on the Board of GBW look forward to bringing you many opportunities for making a positive difference in 2016 and hope we can count on your continued support.  Please kindly share our newsletter with others so they might help us fulfill our mission as well.
     "Dear Womenade,
      I cannot thank you enough for helping this woman. The current temp in her home is 44 degrees. You have provided immediate heat and hot water for someone who is struggling. She is very thankful to you as am I. When I told her about the community food pantry and her ability to get food at (Bedford Presbyterian Church), she immediately responded with, “Can I volunteer?” She wants to say thanks in tangible ways. This is a good person who is humble and grateful for the assistance. God bless and again thank you! Karen Hagy.''

GBW Awarded a $1000.00 'Community Spirit 9/11' Grant by the HPHC Foundation!  

     We are honored and sincerely thank Bedford residents Rhonda and Eric Veiga for submitting applications to the Foundation requesting this grant for GBW!  HPHC, with whom the Veigas are employed, "created a special fund to help employees direct mini-grants to local community programs, helping to improve the places where we live, work and play.  The purpose of the grant is to honor and encourage the spirit of community caring awakened by the tragic events of September 11, 2001."

     100% of these funds will be directed to families and individuals in our service area whose situations mesh with our mission: GBW strives to provide immediate, short-term financial assistance to members of the local community in crisis, recognizing other means of support may not be readily available. Further, we strive to periodically support existing or new programs that benefit at-risk populations in our service area that aim to avert crisis.
