Come to pray and paint

Numbers are growing for the annual Eat, Pray, Paint weekend with St Clement's artist-in-residence Sue Orchison and international iconographer Mylene. Join a “pop-up” art community on 12 to 14 February.

Our Redemptorist saints

Clement Mary Hofbauer's feast day is celebrated on 15 March. He was born in Moravia (Czech Republic) in 1751 and is considered to be a co-founder of the Redemptorists. He was independent, resourceful and very much a man of God. Clement was a late bloomer. He tried many things in his youth and early adulthood, but had not found his place in the world. Bush symbol for Year of Mercy

From the Rector

Dear Friends
I hope the past weeks have brought the blessing of the Christmas Season to you and your family and that the New Year is full of hope and good health. I am mindful, however, of people who have suffered the devastation of fires and floods over this same period. May we respond in prayer and kind.

As we begin this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the generous people of our surrounding districts have donated ornamental gates to be dedicated in commemoration of the Pope's call to reflect on and take to heart the Mercy of God and what it means to act and live our faith in God’s mercy.

On Sunday, 7 February at 12 noon I will bless and dedicate these gates as an Australian bush symbol of a Holy Door as a reminder to pilgrims to St Clement's Retreat Centre of the Lord’s constant mercy and love for each one of us. Following the blessing and opening of the Holy Gates, there will be a farewell light luncheon given by the team at St Clement's for me as I transfer to Melbourne.

It is only a few weeks now before we welcome Fr John Airey and Fr Pat O’Neill to Galong and I move on to Melbourne, so I will take this opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude to you all for your friendship and prayerful support over my time at Galong.

I especially wish to thank our manager Sue Rolfe and the wonderful team at St Clement's, my confreres Br Clement and the late Br Frank (RIP), the Clergy and people of the Archdiocese and surrounding Dioceses, Paddy and Trish and their Team together with the teaching faculty of our Catholic Schools, Matthew, Geoff and Sue our IT people, Brother Robert who cares for our chapels, business administrator Colin, and in a special way the people of the bush who are always close to my heart, for making me feel welcome and at home.
Thank you and God Bless.

Fr Bill Goldman CSsR.
