This week's Android Apps Weekly is sponsored by Aznog. Aznog is a calling service that boasts the ability to make free phone calls to any Aznog user and, get this, any landline free of charge. During our testing, Aznog did precisely that and all 10 phone calls we placed went through. That means the recipient of the phone call doesn't have to have Aznog installed.
This is in stark contrast to a lot of apps such as Skype or Viber where you have to pay money to call landlines. On top of this useful functionality, the app maintains a simple, functional, and good looking interface rooted in Material Design. It's a fun little app, it's entirely free, and it seems to work pretty well. To find out more information, you can also check out their official website. Give it a shot and show your support for the Android Apps Weekly Show!

Headlines this week
- Netflix has announced that they plan on clamping down on proxy and VPN access in the wake of becoming a worldwide presence. The idea is to keep people from viewing content that isn't supposed to be available in their region. It sucks, but here's hoping that region restrictions are a short term problem. The change should be going out in the coming weeks.
- After a very long wait, Google Play has finally introduced promo codes for developers. Now devs can send people codes to their apps to give it to them for free. The codes will work on up-front prices and in-app purchases, but not subscriptions. They are also limited to giving away only 500 per quarter or about 2000 per year.
- Google has announced that Google Cardboard developers will soon have the ability to use spatial audio in their VR applications. This allows sound to be produced that more closely matches how we actually hear sound which should provide a more immersive and exciting VR experience. The SDK for developers it out now so we should see apps using it very soon.
- Google also released a master list of 154 tips that should help people use Google services better than they could before. The list includes voice commands, Chromecast tips, and more information that spans 20 Google apps and services, and even Android itself. Even the pros should take a look at this just to see if there's anything they didn't know.
- Konami has announced that a new Yu-Gi-Oh game will be hitting the Google Play Store sometime this spring. Unfortunately, Konami hasn't really said anything about what the game will be, what it will be about, or what kind of game it is, We know it will be called Duel Links and we're guessing it'll be a freemium title like their other Yu-Gi-Oh titles.
- Google is currently testing new Search features, including the ability to display trending topics, results that are near your location, and the usual recent searches. Tapping on the search bar would also show things like restaurants, ATMs, and trending topics instead of your most recently used search terms. It looks like a cool feature and we don't know when it'll be available to all.
- Lenovo reps stated in a recent article that Google Play Services are returning to China sometime in 2016. This is a huge deal because there are tons of Android users in China and the hope is that Google can unify that application ecosystem and stabilize their OS in that country. Stay tuned because if this is true, things are going to get interesting.
- Apple Music announced that they have hit 10 million paying subscribers in 10 months. That's a ridiculous amount of people signing up for the service and it no doubt has other streaming services shaking in their boots. For some context, it took Spotify six years to hit the same milestone and we're not entirely sure Google Play Music All Access has that many, period.
- Alex Mullis did a tutorial this week on how to use Pushbullet to totally own your notifications!
- This week's Android Customization by Jonathan Feist focuses on the Xposed module and how root users can install it. Check it out!
